Monroe Consulting Group Managing Director Andrew Hairs Hosts Executive Recruitment Roundtable in Vietnam

Leading Vietnamese companies and multinational conglomerates with established presences in the Southeast Asian nation were well represented at a high-level discussion hosted by international award-winning executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group in Ho Chi Minh City.

The executive-level event was the third such roundtable discussion on the Vietnamese economy and challenges confronting companies seeking to recruit and retain executive-level talent, this time featuring a presentation by Monroe Consulting Group Managing Director Andrew Hairs.

“Andrew is a vastly experienced and engaging recruitment professional who has established Monroe operations in emerging markets throughout the Asia-Pacific region, most recently here in Ho Chi Minh City,” said Ngan Huynh, Managing Director of Monroe Vietnam. “It was a great opportunity for human resources professionals, hiring managers and senior executives to listen first-hand to the full spectrum of issues concerning recruitment in Vietnam, and indeed the wider Asian region.”

Ngan, a business-management professional with more than a decade’s experience in client service, operations and human resources, including talent acquisition, development and training, said the discussion centered on Vietnam’s economic outlook, recruitment, HR strategies and prospects for not only established businesses, but also start-up companies seeking to establish a footprint or expand.

The roundtable also presented an opportunity for Ngan, senior Monroe recruitment consultants and Andrew to listen to the viewpoints of a number of senior Vietnamese or Vietnam-based executives, including from prominent law firm Baker & McKenzie, talent management company Lee Hecht Harrison Vietnam, Green IT Solution, Eurofins Consumer Product Testing, Vietcombank Fund Management (VCBF), Colgate Palmolive, oil and gas company Vietsea and health company Dreamfit.

Andrew said it was a pleasure to see so many ideas being discussed among the group during the working lunch at Sorea Restaurant. “It was a valuable experience for me personally as I was able to improve my understanding of the challenges faced by employers in Vietnam. Everybody was very positive about the current business climate and the potential of Vietnam.”

He said it was also great to see so much interest in Monroe, which in the space of only 15 years had grown from one operation to be represented in China, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Chile and Mexico.

“We are emerging market recruitment specialists and proof that companies can establish successful business operations in more challenging markets, and we can help companies tap that potential also.”

He said Monroe specialized in five key industry verticals, namely Technology, Health, Consumer Goods, Industry and Professional Services, which covered banking, finance and insurance. “Having an in-depth knowledge about our clients’ business cultures and their industries ensures that we can source not only the most qualified and experienced job candidates, but professionals who provide a better cultural fit for the client companies we recruit for.”
