Monroe Philippines: Recruitment in the Shipbuilding and Maritime Industry

Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Philippines met with industry leaders at a major event in Manila showcasing the latest developments in the shipbuilding, maritime and offshore industries.

Marine Philippines 2016, held in conjunction with Shipbuild Philippines 2016 and Offshore Philippines 2016 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City earlier this month, is the only specialized event in the country that brings together international shipbuilding, maritime, oil and gas and offshore companies, as well as supporting industries. It aims to help maintain the Philippines’ position as the world’s fourth largest shipbuilder next to Korea, China and Japan.

Jubie Bartolay, the deputy division head of Monroe’s specialized Industrial Division, and recruitment consultant Jo-Ann Capuz met with not only many Philippines-based companies, trade associations, but also companies or contractors from Singapore, China, Korea and Japan who were planning to launch or expand operations in the Philippines.

Ms Bartolay said a factor in the growth of the country’s shipbuilding sector was the operations of foreign shipbuilders. “This has propelled export growth of Philippines-made ships in the international market,” she said. “Thus shipyards established in our country are now producing more ships with larger tonnage capacities, like bulk carriers, container ships and passenger ferries.”

Ms Bartolay said she met with a senior executive from a Korean company who had specific recruitment needs to help establish operations in the Philippines. “Monroe of course can help. We are a leading executive-level recruitment company and we are used to sourcing quality candidates for leading companies, be they established local companies or multinational companies beginning operations in the Philippines.”

Ms Capuz reiterated that Monroe Consulting Group Philippines played an integral role in a range of industrial-related industries by “providing high-caliber job candidates who could help companies establish or grow in the Philippines.”
