Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting is recruiting on behalf of a US medical device company in Thailand. The company has been distributing cryogenically preserved human tissues for cardiac and vascular transplant applications and develops medical devices across the world.

The position will be a key member of both US-based Legal Department and the APAC business team that principally provides legal support for the APAC business team, but also, as time allows, provides legal support for EMEA and, to a lesser degree, to US operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide paralegal support as dictated by the varying needs of the Legal Department and the Company (and subject to attorney oversight as appropriate), principally focused on the following areas:
  • APAC corporate secretarial and subsidiary management work;
  • APAC sales support including: drafting and managing APAC distribution contracts (3PL/4PL, intercompany, and third-party distributor agreements); communicating and negotiating with countersignatories to contracts; and providing input into and support for distributor disputes and related matters;
  • General contracting work, including drafting, negotiating, and managing general Company contracts on an on-going basis including maintaining APAC and other Company agreements in the Company's Contract Management Software/Database (including consulting, proctoring, and service agreements with HCPs and others, nondisclosure agreements, clinical trial site agreements, data privacy agreements, and others);
  • Key contracting business partners include: Regulatory affairs / quality assurance / Clinical, Sales and Marketing / and Compliance
  • Legal support for APAC HR-related matters, including drafting employment and consulting agreements;
  • APAC data privacy and healthcare compliance work, including ensuring compliance with local laws, regulations, guidelines, and codes of conduct, particularly as it relates to interactions with healthcare professionals (e.g., hosting of customer events, meal limits);
  • Assist with other Legal Department projects as directed by the Associate General Counsel(s) and the General Counsel, including backup support for regional sales support in EMEA, LATAM, and the US.
  • The APAC Legal Coordinator will work directly the APAC management team and with the General Counsel, the other attorneys in the department and outside counsel, and paralegals, as well as with all levels of employees in all departments

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (preferred but not required) with at least 5 years of corporate paralegal experience.
  • Significant experience in international corporate secretary work, including subsidiary management, and in negotiating distributor agreements, including reviewing and negotiating complex legal concepts (e.g. warranties, indemnification, and limitation of liability), preferred.
  • Experience in the healthcare sector also preferred.
  • Must be able to identify business and legal risks and make informed decisions as to the impact of those risks.
  • Strong self-initiative, record-keeping, organizational, problem-solving, communication, analytical, and computer skills. Strong attention to detail and customer service.
  • Excels and thrives in fast-paced, high-energy environment, supporting a wide variety of internal and external clients.
  • Works well in a team, willingly shares responsibilities and takes on new assignments as needed and is willing to work with employees from all levels of the Company.
  • Ability to maintain high level of integrity of confidential and sensitive information and credibility within the organization.
  • Able to handle high-stress, fast-moving situations in a professional, business-like manner.
  • Ability to build good working relationships with both internal business partners and external contacts.
  • Exceptional attitude, strong work ethic, and excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, and can interact comfortably with executives and senior management.
  • Prior in-house experience preferred but not required.
