Monroe Consulting Group, an Executive Recruitment firm, is partnering with an organization in the Logistics industry to hire a Business Development Manager. This role drives business growth by identifying new opportunities and delivering tailored contract logistics solutions. It is instrumental in expanding customer portfolios and strengthening long-term partnerships to achieve revenue targets. This opportunity is based in Penang.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities within target industries.
  • Generate qualified sales leads through market research, networking, and industry engagement.
  • Build and manage a healthy sales pipeline to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
  • Develop strategic account plans and customer acquisition strategies
  • Lead end-to-end sales cycles including prospecting, solution presentation, proposal submission, negotiation, and contract closure
  • Understand customer supply chain requirements and collaborate with solution design and operations teams to develop tailored logistics solutions.
  • Present warehousing, distribution, transportation, and value-added service solutions to customers.
  • Conduct customer meetings, site visits, and business reviews.
  • Maintain strong long-term relationships with key customers and stakeholders.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer supply chain developments.
  • Identify emerging opportunities in sectors such as retail, FMCG, automotive, healthcare, industrial, and e-commerce.
  • Provide market feedback and strategic recommendations to management.
  • Lead RFQ/RFP processes and coordinate internal stakeholders for proposal development.
  • Prepare commercial proposals and contract terms.
  • Negotiate rates, service agreements and commercial conditions with customers.
  • Work closely with operations, engineering, finance, and implementation teams to ensure successful onboarding and service delivery.
  • Support transition and implementation activities for newly secured accounts.
  • Ensure customer expectations and operational capabilities are aligned

Key Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of business development or sales experience in contract logistics, warehousing, freight forwarding, or supply chain solutions.
  • Proven track record in securing and managing large-scale logistics accounts.

Technical / Functional Expertise

  • Experience handling RFQs, tenders, and solution-based selling.
  • Strong understanding of warehousing operations, transportation, inventory management, and supply chain processes.

Soft Skills & Leadership Competencies

  • Driven and commercially focused approach to business development.
  • Strong customer relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage complex sales cycles and deliver results in a competitive environment.
