Monroe Consulting Group Indonesia is hiring a DSTF Geotech Jr Engineer for a nickel mining company based in Morowali. This role is responsible for supporting geotechnical field operations, including monitoring, testing, and ensuring the stability and safety of Dry Stack Tailings (DSTF). It ensures all geotechnical activities are executed in line with technical standards, safety regulations, and operational requirements.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate geotechnical field activities (sampling, in-situ testing, instrumentation)
- Monitor and maintain geotechnical instruments (piezometer, settlement plates, inclinometers)
- Ensure DSTF operations (tailings placement, drainage, buttress) follow design and technical standards
- Identify and report geotechnical risks (slope stability, deformation, drainage issues)
- Lead and manage geotechnical technicians in daily field activities
- Prepare and validate daily, weekly, and monthly geotechnical reports
- Ensure compliance with SOP, safety (K3), and environmental regulations
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure safe and efficient operations
Requirements
- Minimum Diploma (D3) in Civil Engineering, Geology, Mining Engineering, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in geotechnical fieldwork, monitoring, or DST/tailings operations
- Experience with geotechnical testing, sampling, and instrumentation (e.g., piezometer, settlement plate)
- Understanding of Dry Stack Tailings and geotechnical risks in the field
- Ability to supervise field teams and manage daily operational activities
- Strong problem-solving, reporting, and coordination skills
- POP certification and geotechnical/K3 training are an advantage
