Environmental Superintendent (Mining)


Monroe Consulting Group is currently partnering with a prominent and rapidly expanding company in Indonesia's nickel mining industry.
As part of their continued commitment to operational excellence and sustainable mining practices, our client is seeking a seasoned Environmental Superintendent to be based on-site in Morowali. This position will take a leading role in ensuring that all environmental aspects of the operation are effectively managed, fully compliant with regulatory standards, and aligned with best practices in environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead environmental management programs to ensure compliance with Indonesian regulations and company standards
  • Develop and implement SOPs related to environmental protection, monitoring, and mitigation
  • Oversee environmental monitoring activities (air quality, emissions, noise, vibration, soil, etc.)
  • Ensure all operations comply with environmental permits and applicable laws
  • Coordinate closely with contractors and internal departments on environmental practices
  • Prepare comprehensive environmental reports (daily to annual) for internal and external stakeholders
  • Lead environmental incident response, investigation, and corrective actions
  • Promote Environmental Management System (EMS) and sustainability culture on site
  • Manage, coach, and develop the environmental team

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Forestry, Chemistry, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role within mining (preferably nickel)
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, compliance, and reporting
  • Familiar with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 9001, and SMKP standards
  • Experience handling environmental monitoring and audits
  • Leadership experience managing teams in site-based operations
  • Relevant certifications (POP, PPPA/PPPU, PLB3, etc.) are an advantage
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
