The Head of Finance will direct all strategic financial, treasury, tax, and governance operations for the organization's local/regional upstream, midstream, or downstream assets. Serving as a crucial leadership partner to executive leadership and global corporate headquarters, this role ensures capital efficiency, strict regulatory compliance, dynamic risk management, and overall business profitability in a volatile commodity market.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Financial Management: Drive long-term financial strategy, business planning, and capital allocation tailored to energy market trends, commodity price volatility, and project lifecycles.
- FP&A & Capital Evaluation: Oversee comprehensive financial planning, budgeting, and performance tracking. Lead economic modeling and risk analysis for major capital investments, joint ventures, asset acquisitions, and decommissioning reserves.
- Treasury & FX Risk Management: Manage liquidity, project financing structures, hedging strategies, and foreign exchange (FX) risk exposure in coordination with global treasury.
- Tax, Audit & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to national and international accounting standards (IFRS/US GAAP), transfer pricing rules, production-sharing agreements (PSAs), statutory reporting, and energy sector tax regulations.
- Joint Venture & Partner Governance: Oversee partner billing, cash calls, audit reconciliations, and commercial agreements with operating partners and government authorities.
- Financial Leadership & Operations: Lead and mentor the finance, accounting, and supply chain finance teams, continually elevating internal controls and ERP systems.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics; CPA, ACCA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred.
- Experience: 10 to 15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, with a significant track record of executive leadership in the Oil & Gas, Energy, or Heavy Industrial sectors.
- Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in capital project evaluation (NPV, IRR), energy tax frameworks, joint-venture accounting, and enterprise systems (e.g., SAP S/4HANA).
- Key Competencies: Strong commercial acumen, high-stakes stakeholder negotiation skills, dynamic risk navigation, and team leadership in complex global matrix environments.
