Mechanical Engineer (Data Center)

Monroe Consulting Group is currently hiring on behalf of our client, an international data center company looking to onboard a Mechanical Engineer with expertise in mechanical engineer design for data center building. This job is based in Jakarta, Indonesia, and requires high mobility.

Key Responsibilitie

  • Lead the planning, design, and delivery of mechanical engineering systems for data center projects from concept through commissioning
  • Coordinate the design, review, and implementation of critical mechanical systems, including HVAC, chilled water systems, fire protection, plumbing, drainage, ventilation systems, and fuel distribution infrastructure
  • Serve as the Mechanical Engineering Lead for assigned projects, coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver projects within scope, budget, schedule, and quality requirements
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, design reports, technical specifications, equipment schedules, and construction drawings
  • Develop technical specifications for major mechanical equipment, including chillers, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units, air handling units (AHUs), pumps, heat exchangers, piping systems, and ventilation equipment
  • Evaluate mechanical system performance and recommend improvements to optimize energy efficiency, reliability, maintainability, and Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE)
  • Review consultant and contractor design submissions to ensure compliance with applicable codes, project requirements, and engineering standards
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of engineering standards, design guidelines, and technical specifications
  • Provide engineering support during construction by reviewing RFIs, shop drawings, material submissions, method statements, and resolving site-related technical issues
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Testing & Commissioning (T&C), Integrated System Testing (IST), site inspections, and project handover activities
  • Collaborate closely with electrical, civil, structural, architectural, commissioning, operations, and project management teams throughout project execution
  • Support cost estimation, value engineering, and constructability reviews to achieve the optimum balance of cost, quality, maintainability, and operational reliability
  • Monitor engineering deliverables to ensure alignment with approved schedules, budgets, and quality objectives
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, clients, utility providers, and regulatory authorities to facilitate technical reviews and project approvals
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices within the team
  • Ensure compliance with engineering codes, local regulations, environmental requirements, health and safety standards, and quality management systems
  • Provide technical recommendations to enhance infrastructure scalability, resilience, and operational performance
  • Support the development and execution of data center engineering programs
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and contractors to review mechanical calculations and approve design packages for mission-critical infrastructure


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering design, construction, or commissioning, preferably within data center or other mission-critical facilities
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems for data centers, including HVAC, chilled water systems, direct expansion (DX) systems, ventilation, fire protection, plumbing, drainage, water treatment systems, and fuel distribution systems
  • Experience supporting Testing & Commissioning activities, including Functional Performance Testing (FPT), Integrated System Testing (IST), and system handover
  • Strong understanding of mission-critical environments, HVAC systems and controls, fire protection systems, and fuel distribution infrastructure
  • Knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) optimization, and data hall thermal management
  • Familiarity with Indonesian HVAC, fire protection, and fuel system regulations
  • Excellent project coordination, stakeholder management, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple engineering assignments simultaneously.
