This opportunity is based in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, supporting a prominent life sciences company in Asia with responsibility for driving product strategy, portfolio management, and market positioning for analytical chemistry solutions.
Position Overview
This role is responsible for defining and executing the product strategy and roadmap for analytical chemistry solutions aligned with market and business needs.
It directly impacts product success, market performance, and competitive positioning through effective portfolio management, cross‑functional collaboration, and data‑driven decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Vision
- Define the product vision, roadmap, and objectives in alignment with overall business goals
- Understand market trends, customer needs, and commercial priorities to shape product direction
- Make informed strategic trade‑offs to balance long‑term product vision with short‑term business demands
Market & Customer Research
- Conduct or collaborate on market research, competitor analysis, and customer feedback activities
- Identify customer pain points, unmet needs, and innovation opportunities within the analytical chemistry market
- Define buyer personas and target segments with a strong understanding of market behaviour and needs
Requirements & Roadmap Planning
- Translate business and market needs into clear product requirements and user stories
- Prioritise product features based on customer impact, effort, and strategic alignment
- Develop, maintain, and communicate a clear and actionable product roadmap
- Drive new product launches and manage portfolio strategy to support sustainable growth
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Account Holders and Sales Managers to ensure technical feasibility and timely delivery
- Partner with Sales and Marketing teams to support go‑to‑market strategies, positioning, and messaging
- Collaborate with Customer Support and Customer Success teams to gather post‑launch feedback and ensure customer satisfaction
Performance Tracking & Iteration
- Define and monitor key performance indicators such as adoption, retention, and revenue
- Analyse qualitative and quantitative data to evaluate product performance and user behaviour
- Drive continuous product improvement based on insights, performance metrics, and stakeholder feedback
Stakeholder Communication
- Keep internal stakeholders informed of product progress, timelines, risks, and changes
- Act as the internal voice of the product across the organisation
- Present product updates, performance, and strategic recommendations to leadership to gain alignment and buy‑in
Key Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Science, or a related discipline
Technical / Functional Expertise
- Strong understanding of analytical chemistry products and solutions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to analyse data and present insights clearly and concisely
- Ability to support product launches, portfolio planning, and go‑to‑market initiatives
Soft Skills & Leadership Competencies
- Fluency in spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia
- Strong presentation, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated leadership qualities with a structured, proactive, and results‑oriented approach
