Monroe Consulting Group Indonesia is recruiting on behalf of a well-established international non-governmental organization with a strong global presence in conservation and sustainable development. Our client is seeking a highly experienced Program Director - Terrestrial & Wildlife to lead and expand its conservation initiatives in Papua.
This role will be based in Papua and will play a critical leadership function in shaping and delivering impactful, science-based conservation programs that protect biodiversity, strengthen ecosystem resilience, and engage local communities and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategic development and execution of terrestrial and wildlife conservation programs across Papua.
- Provide overall leadership, management, and oversight of program teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and donor expectations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government bodies, local communities, donors, and partner organizations.
- Drive program design grounded in scientific research, data analysis, and best practices in conservation.
- Oversee budgeting, financial management, and reporting to ensure compliance with donor and organizational standards.
- Identify and secure funding opportunities, including grant writing and donor engagement.
- Ensure programs integrate community-based approaches, including indigenous knowledge and sustainable livelihood components.
- Represent the organization in high-level forums, advocacy platforms, and stakeholder engagements.
Key Requirements:
- Master's degree or higher in Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, Forestry, Ecology, or a related field.
- Minimum 12-15 years of progressive experience in conservation, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Strong experience managing large-scale terrestrial and wildlife conservation programs, ideally in Indonesia or similar contexts.
- Demonstrated track record in stakeholder engagement, including government relations and community partnerships.
- Experience working with international donors and managing complex funding portfolios.
- Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and team management capabilities.
- Fluency in English is required; Bahasa Indonesia proficiency is highly preferred.
- Willingness to be based in Papua and travel frequently to remote field locations.
