Monroe Consulting Group, an Executive Recruitment firm, is partnering with an organisation in the Industrial sector to hire a Resident Engineer. This opportunity is based in Malaysia.
Position Overview
The Resident Engineer is responsible for managing electrical works within the manufacturing plant, ensuring equipment reliability, maintenance effectiveness, and operational continuity.
This role plays a critical part in supporting production, leading maintenance activities, managing vendor relationships, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and execute Preventive Maintenance Activities such as scheduled preventive maintenance checklist, planning and unplanned line stop schedules for all the process equipment and associated utilities in plant.
- Document and execute all problem records.
- Request and propose alternative solution on Repair and Maintenance, spare parts and 3rd party maintenance needed requisition by engineers to smoothen maintenance activities.
- To propose on yearly departmental budget for repair and maintenance, spare parts and 3rd party maintenance requisition.
- Recruitment activities includes interviewing, hiring, assigning work, training, coaching, mentoring, counselling to ensure consistent application of Employee Guidelines, processes, and procedures. Conducts performance reviews and holds supervisors and technicians accountable for optimal performance of their responsibilities.
- Provide recommendation to any issue related to electrical and machinery's.
- Drive and execute continuous improvement programme.
- Responsible for machine installation, commissioning and collection of commissioning data.
- Liaise with vendors (local and overseas) to solve production issues.
- Support production whenever necessary.
Key Requirements
Qualifications & Experience- 3 to 5 years of working experience in manufacturing industries.
- Experience in supervising or leading a group of maintenance technicians.
- Experience in project management will be an advantage.
Technical / Functional Expertise
- Strong in electrical and control systems such as PLC programming, SCADA/HMI design (optional), hardwiring, and electrical and electronic hardware.
- Preferably experienced in Siemens PLC.
- Strong in electrical and control system troubleshooting.
- Preferably possess an A4 Chargeman Licence.
Soft Skills & Leadership Competencies
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to liaise effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Capable of driving continuous improvement initiatives and supporting operational excellence.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple maintenance and engineering activities.
- Ability to coach and guide maintenance personnel is advantageous.
