Monroe Consulting Group, an Executive Recruitment firm, is partnering with an organisation within the Industrial industry to hire a Senior Purchasing Executive (Indirect). This opportunity is based in Malaysia.
Position Overview
This role supports indirect procurement activities by managing sourcing, supplier relationships, and purchasing operations in alignment with organisational requirements.
The position contributes directly to operational efficiency, cost optimisation, and compliance with corporate purchasing standards.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Sourcing Management
- Work with requesting departments to finalise purchase specifications and requirements.
- Balance technical and commercial requirements to ensure best-value procurement decisions.
- Source, negotiate, and purchase materials and services in compliance with specifications and requirements, using contract or corporate pricing structures.
- Conduct and obtain bids or quotations from suppliers that meet purchasing requirements.
- Identify new suppliers and develop their capabilities to meet the company's standards.
Cost Control & Commercial Analysis
- Ensure information flow within the organisation on commercial issues within assigned commodity groups.
- Actively utilise pricing and cost analysis techniques to ensure the company receives optimal value and support continuous commodity optimisation.
- Commercial experience in procurement and supply chain scope is an added advantage.
Supplier & Vendor Management
- Update and manage the Approved Vendor List (AVL).
- Monitor supplier performance on pricing, quality, delivery, and service.
- Drive corporate-wide compliance with established purchasing policies, signature authority, and business ethics.
Administration & Cross-Department Coordination
- Upkeep correspondence, purchase orders, and departmental documentation.
- Cooperate with the Finance Department on invoice approval and correction.
- Liaise with the Logistics Department on material deliveries and tax exemption for goods and services.
Stakeholder & Regional Coordination
- Deal with suppliers and internal counterparts in China and Korea.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Management from time to time.
Key Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Management, or a related discipline
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in Purchasing, Engineering, or Business, preferably within the solar, wafer fabrication, semiconductor, or electronics industries
- Fresh graduates in relevant fields are encouraged to apply
Technical / Functional Expertise
- Knowledge of procurement and supply chain processes
- Vendor sourcing, negotiation, and cost analysis exposure
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Soft Skills & Leadership Competencies
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
- Chinese and Korean language proficiency is an added advantage
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Results-oriented, well organised, and self-motivated
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to work under pressure
