Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group’s Industrial Division is recruiting on behalf of a Government Linked Company (GLC). This client of mine is looking for an experienced individual with extensive experience in financial management and governance for the position of Chief Financial Officer.

This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer and governs infrastructure projects in excess of $10Bn, covering general financial administration, financing, treasury, corporate governance and project costing.

Job responsibilities:

  • People Management: leadership, succession planning, hiring, training, coaching, communication, organizational development (structure and processes), people development
  • Provide monthly overview/activity report to CEO for discussion, goal setting and prioritization 
  • Coordination & management of insurance policies (contact with brokers) 
  • Application of governing standards, policies and directives 
  • Controlling (profitability analysis/decision support/etc.) 
  • Fulfill management and reporting requirements 
  • Monitor audit recommendation (management letter/internal audit reports) 
  • Benchmarking and share best practice between regions and sub-regions 
  • Periodic Closing (Review of material issues) 
  • ICS (review compliance and instigate improvements where necessary) 
  • Coordinate 5-year forecast and impairments processes 
  • Optimizing financing structure (debt, dividend, equity, tax) and Net Working Capital 
  • Promote provision by middle management with financial/analytical support in decision-making and cost-efficiency/profitability improvement 
  • Coach and guide finance and administration management with respect to timeliness and quality of reporting. Also coordinate/negotiate, where possible, the implementation of company policies/objectives

Job requirements:

  • Minimum Accounting or Finance degree. MBA is preferred
  • Candidate must be a registered MIA member
  • Minimum 10 years of finance management experience in an organization within a similar business
  • Candidate must have experience in project costing, cash flows and issuance of bonds
  • Excellent MFRS/MPERS knowledge 
  • Some experience in construction 
  • Strong track record or social footprint for integrity 
  • Proven leadership skills and experience 
  • Excellent communication skills. Media training is a plus
  • Ability to adapt quickly to complex business interrelationships 
  • Open-minded, hands-on, innovative, solution- and process oriented 
  • Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and verbal
