Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Malaysia's Professional Division is recruiting on behalf of a council primarily focusing on rubber export. The council was set up to establish the presence of Malaysia and its quality rubber produce in the international scene and to support small and medium enterprises in the rubber industry. They have offices in various different continents to carry out their vision of becoming the leading exporter of quality rubber products. Our respected client is seeking a professional with a minimum of 10 years’ experience for the job of a Deputy Director of Corporate Communications. This job will be based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 

The successful candidate will be a dynamic Corporate Communications senior member to lead a newly formed department to strengthen and protect the Malaysian rubber and rubber products image and perception worldwide through coordinated communications. This role is of great importance in the Council’s ability to effectively engage the media, the public and internal stakeholders though direct personal interaction, as well as high quality and timely print and online communications.

Job responsibilities:

  • Lead in the development and management of a comprehensive communications program for external audiences to communicate key messages (e.g. letters, newsletter content, etc.)
  • Manage the development, production and dissemination of communications materials (e.g. pitches, press kits, etc.)
  • Coordinate with media relations and preparing the Chairman and CEO for interviews via the development of Q&As and research
  • Manage media monitoring, tracking and analysis with the creation reports
  • Build and maintain media lists
  • Supporting media relations activities through building and managing media lists, pitching stories, distributing news releases, reviewing in-bound media opportunities and coordinating interviews
  • Serve as thought leader by keeping up with developing trends in the field of communications and the consideration of new/alternative channels of communication, including ways to measure engagement/response of the audience
  • Assist with proofreading and editing internal and external communications to ensure consistent messaging
  • Provide support for community relations and government relations activities at the corporate level by increasing brand exposure
  • Develop deep relationships with key players to maximize quality and frequency of exposure
  • Increase brand awareness, help create integrated brands, advertising campaigns as well as promotional collateral and prepare annual budget
  • Create, find, and develop innovative programs to maximize Malaysian rubber and rubber products image at the global stage
  • Partake in special projects and participate in cross functional activities


Job requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Corporate Communications or equivalent
  • A strategic thinker and planner simultaneously with a passion for innovation
  • First-rate written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to persuade and influence various stakeholders
  • Experience in the media or corporate sector is essential
  • Possess strong planning and process orientation skills
  • Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia (spoken and written)
