Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Indonesia is recruiting on behalf of a leading aerospace and defense company. As expansion continues, our client is seeking a professional with at least 20 years’ experience in aerospace and defense for the job of Head of Country – Indonesia (Aerospace and Defense Industry). The job is based in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Key job responsibilities include: 

  • Report directly to the Head of Regional South East Asia Pacific
  • Propose country strategy and provide inputs for the regional strategy
  • Define the company strategy inconsistency with the Regional Strategy, ensure its approval, and drive its execution. Regularly update and follow-up the strategic plan
  • Make sure that legal requirements are known and respected. Represent the company in the court of justice when relevant
  • Lead by personal example and ensure all employees conduct their activities in accordance with local applicable laws, company standards and policies (E&C, HSE), guidance given by the Governance bodies
  • Act as a direct liaison between the Board and the management of the company. Ensures the Directors are properly informed and sufficient information is provided to the Board
  • In concert with the Chairman, convene the annual meeting of shareholders (propose its agenda)
  • Establish the company business plan: accountable for executing the process on time and on quality, accountable for the costs generated by the company and consulted for the bookings and revenues
  • Define the local capability needs (OPEX, CAPEX) in coordination with the regional “metiers” and align with Regional processes (CAPEX, SDP, IMMP)
  • As country strategy leader and as official local partner representative, acts as the country business development and lobbying leader to build a favorable ecosystem ensuring long-term business capture in coordination with the regional sales
  • Kept consistently informed by the sales team of the local sales funnel, sales, and marketing activities to assess the revenues, margin, and cash projections impact on the local business plan. May challenge and escalate to the relevant governance body if the decisions put the local CC efficiency, survivability, or legality at risk
  • Ensure that the local team supports the Regional Marketing team for market and competitive analysis, marketing plan, promotion initiatives and campaigns, experts’ visits to customers, etc.
  • Ensure that the local team contributes adequately to collecting the data supporting the Sales Funnel and S&OP process
  • Contribute to defining services solutions with the company and regional teams that best suit the local market needs
  • Lead and control operations, ensure best possible performances in full compliance with the company standards
  • Deploy locally company or regional policies, processes, best practices tools, and management systems as required. Define and deploy local operational performance improvements and tools
  • In coordination with HR, ensure updated knowledge and compliance with local manpower laws
  • Accountable for the company compliance with the group, international and national requirements for quality, occupational safety, aviation safety, and flight operations
  • Ensure the steering of the Safety deployment plan in-country in coordination with company safety organization and region representatives

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a commercial discipline from reputable university
  • Minimum 20 years’ experience in Aerospace and Defense Industry and/or Indonesia government relations or political affairs
  • Fluent in English language
  • Proven track record of successful government business in Indonesia
  • Deep knowledge (excellent technical and maintenance knowledge) on government and military defense
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining external relationships at senior levels
  • Analytical skills and sound financial understanding of the commercial and supply chain
  • Knowledge of current market trends and the Aerospace and Defense Industry that operate in the market
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with teams and networks and influence outcomes at many levels in an organization
  • Excellent project management skills – with ability to identify critical path issues and develop solutions to keep a program on track
  • Clear understanding of ethics and compliance issues
  • Strong problem-solving ability and effective employee management experience
