Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Malaysia is recruiting on behalf of one of the leading legal publishers in Malaysia. Our highly respected client is currently looking for a professional individual to play the crucial role as a Marketing Manager. The job is based in Selangor, Malaysia.

This role is responsible to contribute innovative and mature initiatives for both online and offline marketing activities for the business, able to provide constructive advice to the management on the performance and future directions.

Job responsibilities:

  • Branding/Corporate Identity 
    • Establishing and maintaining a consistent corporate image throughout all product lines, promotional materials, and events.
    • Developing and producing corporate communications collaterals.
  • Marketing
    • Planning, developing and coordinating marketing strategy, plans and promotional campaigns with sales and event activities.
    • Execution of all marketing campaigns: 
    • Submit marketing related requisitions when necessary. 
    • Briefing and supervising graphic designers on all marketing collateral in line with marketing plans and promotional campaigns.
    • Ensure the marketing promotional programs and events banners are updated.
    • Monitoring, reviewing, evaluating and reporting on all marketing activities and results of all marketing programs and events. For example, sales derived from exhibition booth, and for email campaign, the open rates and click-thru-rates. 
    • Update the Marketing WIP on a weekly basis.
    • Research and monitor competitors’ products and marketing activities via the website and document feedbacks from sales team.
    • Gather and analyze customer insight to facilitate development of appropriate strategies to meet their needs.
    • Update and maintain marketing calendar for internal and external events:
    • Update the calendar as and when there is new addition of events.
    • Circulate the calendar by email to relevant colleagues from marketing and sales department, product development department, editorial team.
    • Managing and improving lead generation campaigns, measuring results.
    • Developing a customer loyalty and retention programme.
    • Providing support for marketing channels and partners.
    • Ensuring effective control of marketing results and taking corrective action to guarantee that achievement of marketing objectives falls within designated budgets.
    • Coordinating liaison between the Marketing Unit and the Sales and Events units within the Marketing department as well as other related departments.
    • Ensuring timely reports to the Management.
    • Assist Marketing Head/General Manager in developing and recommending:
    • Product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share.
    • Customer service standards and developing a customer service programme.
  • Event Management
    • Managing, producing and evaluating all Events:
    • Collaboration with marketing partners.
    • Identify and book event venue and liaise with venue management with regard to seating and decorations, catering and others.
    • Coordinate and monitor event timelines and ensure all materials deadlines are met. This includes compiling speakers’ information, profiles and speaker’s notes. 
    • Send out invitations to delegates, speakers, VIPs and manage registration list for each event, including submitting sales order, sending out invoices, confirmation of participation and post-event emails. 
    • Manage correspondences of delegates, speakers and VIPs via phone and email.
    • Provide support during events, e.g. assist in delegate’s registration.
    • Consolidate, input and provide summary of delegates’ feedbacks.
    • Setting financial objectives and preparing an annual budget.
    • Forecasting requirements; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
    • Reporting on return on investment (ROI) and key performance index (KPI) metrics.
    • Coordinating liaison between the Events unit and Marketing and Sales units within the Marketing department as well as other related departments.
  • Digital Marketing
    • Plan and execute all digital marketing, including SEO/SEM, marketing database, email, social media and display advertising campaigns.
    • Design, build and maintain our social media presence.
    • Measure and report performance of all digital marketing campaigns, and assess against goals (ROI and KPIs).
    • Identify trends and insights, and optimize spend and performance based on the insights.
    • Brainstorm new and creative growth strategies.
    • Plan, execute, and measure experiments and conversion tests.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to create landing pages and optimize user experience.
    • Utilize strong analytical ability to evaluate end-to-end customer experience across multiple channels and customer touch points.
    • Instrument conversion points and optimize user funnels.
    • Collaborate with agencies and vendor partners.
    • Evaluate emerging technologies. Provide thought leadership and perspective for adoption where appropriate.
  • Market Intelligence
    • Overseeing and evaluating market intelligence; adjusting marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions. Determine market requirements for existing and future products:
    • Analyzing market trends and recommending changes to marketing and business development strategies based on analysis and feedback.
    • Monitoring competitor products, sales and marketing activities.
    • Monitoring industry best practices.
    • Gathering and analyzing customer insight to facilitate development of appropriate strategies to meet their needs.
    • Identifying marketing opportunities by identifying consumer requirements; defining market, competitor's share, and competitor's strengths and weaknesses; forecasting projected business; establishing targeted market share.
    • Providing information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Database
    • Maintain a highly updated and usable database.
    • Ensure the legal firms list is updated every quarterly by referring to the Bar Council. 
    • Consolidate all list from tele-sales and incorporate them into the master list.
    • Distribute relevant database to sales team to work on.
  • Financial Management
    • Developing and managing the company’s marketing budget.
    • Analyzing and controlling expenditure of the department to conform to budgetary requirements.
    • Meeting marketing, sales and events financial objectives.
    • Reporting on return on investment (ROI) and key performance index (KPI) metrics.
  • People Management
    • Accomplishing the department’s human resource objectives by: 
    • training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, motivating and disciplining employees.
    • communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions.
    • planning and reviewing compensation actions.
    • enforcing policies and procedures.
    • Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Media
    • Establishing relationships with the media to ensure the most effective messaging and positioning of the organization. Assisting in developing press releases or any other media related news articles as required.

Job requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Marketing, Business or related field. 
  • 2 – 3 years working experience in similar capacity. Publishing or legal content research background would be advantageous.
  • Sound working experience in conceptualising, planning, developing and implementing the Marketing Strategy and campaigns for company’s product and services, targeted toward existing and new markets.
  • Successfully executed Marketing Plans and Promotional Campaigns.
  • Proven working experience in digital marketing.
  • Knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics).
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking.
  • Up to date with the latest trends and best practices in marketing (including digital marketing) and measurements.
