Plant Operations Director

Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Thailand is recruiting on behalf of an international service and manufacturing company in HVAC and cooling industry. Our respected client is seeking a professional with over 15 years’ experience in plant operations management, both execution and financial aspects in HVAC industry for the job of Plant Director. This job is based in Bangkok Thailand.

Job Responsibilities

  • Implement the overall commercial manufacturing and operations strategy for long-range and short term, lead the plant management team including Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials, Finance, HR and Sourcing, EHS, IT etc. to cascade SBU target to operation level, develop and implement manufacturing budget and plan, and facilitate the allocation of necessary resources e.g. capitals, equipment, as well as human resources to deliver the target operational results.
  • Oversee and direct the planning, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing methods, processes and operations for new or existing products. Ensure effectiveness of production and quality control systems, analysing production, quality control, maintenance and other operational reports to ensure high quality yields. Drive performance against defined metrics including, Financial, quality, OTD, inventory turns and productivity.
  • Develop and implement, systems that comply with global and industry regulatory requirements for quality, safety, and the environment.
  • Drive effective use operations resources and continuous improvement efforts. Define, drive, and deliver key production and process improvements
  • Optimize S&OP planning balancing revenue maximization with meeting customer requirements.
  • Improve profitability of Bangkok plant through recommendation and management of operations and cost improvements as well as productivity enhancement initiatives. Foster an organization that builds quality products in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Leverage operational excellence tools and initiatives such as BSC, Maturity maps, six-sigma, lean, value stream etc.
  • Develop people and organization capability to support Bangkok business growth through coaching and mentoring subordinate, identify and develop plant talents, develop a plant culture/environment which inspires progress and encourage employee engagement
  • Oversee all aspects of inventory management to optimize inventory targets; drive inventory reduction programmes
  • Manage relationships with suppliers to ensure on-time in-full delivery targets are achieved.
  • Develop and manage site budget and spending in support of company objectives for cost control while maintaining effectiveness.
  • Working with the Supply Chain Director, develop organizational goals for the facility which are aggressive, yet achievable, and tied to long-term goals of the company
  • Accountable for demonstrating company behaviors and values; leading by example to ensure your team does the same.
  • Seek development opportunities and experiment with new approaches and practices to stay current in supply chain and manufacturing expertise.
  • Accountable for delivering process excellence and the effective use of the Team’s resources and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Implement Operations administrative policies, procedures, and standards as directed by the Supply Chain Director.
  • Coordinate work through effective collaboration with all parts of the organization
  • Foster an environment that supports learning, individual development and openness to change.
  • Manage the Operations resources by identifying key roles and talent gaps, developing internal talent and sourcing top talent to build strength within the function and company.
  • Guarantee the delivery of the business strategy, by ensuring all Operations team members have regular performance management meetings with their managers.
  • Manage the operations costs and budgets; strive to improve the overall financial and key performance indicators of the business.
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment. Ability to manage and influence sourcing strategies to support business/production schedule and on time delivery

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with Engineering background or equivalent technical discipline is required, MBA degree is a plus.
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in manufacturing operations required, at least 3-5 years working experience in a manufacturing/plant operations leadership role.
  • Proven capability of operating successfully at a senior management level.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership ability. Ability to empower the workforce and build strong manufacturing operation team through hiring, developing, evaluating, training and coaching.
  • Demonstrate financial acumen including planning and cost control capabilities and proven experience of managing projects to budget.
  • Solid experience in Manufacturing, Operation Management, proven track record to drive for change and deliver result.
  • Strong working ethic in the delivery of satisfying the profitable requirements and expectations of internal and external customers.
  • Effectively recognise and manage conflict
  • Broad experience of working in a multi-national, matrix organization.
  • Strong communications and presentation skills.
  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills.
