Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Malaysia is recruiting on behalf of a management consulting firm. Our client is seeking a professional with at least 5 years’ experience in project financing, auditing and financial analyst, ideally from MNC environment or Big Four, for the Project Accountant position. This job is based in Kuala Lumpur. Highly motivated candidates with extreme background in both accounting and finance are encouraged to apply. 

This opening mainly provides highly technical analytical supports to the SEA Accounting & Finance function across a broad range of areas. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with various teams in the Finance department across the client’s offices. 

Job responsibilities:

  • Provide centralized WIP support to Client Service Teams and assist with problem solving and data interpretation
  • Review WIP balances on monthly basis, work to resolve balance discrepancies, ensure that accounting entries and adjustments are performed by month-end close and play a pivotal role in the monthly time close
  • Monitor and analyze billing and collection aging; work with local Finance teams and Partners to ensure client invoices are sent on schedule and AR collected on time; and in some instances, become directly involved with clients to resolve billing and collection issues
  • Support Client Service Teams with the budgeting of projects and review Client Engagement Reports (CER) as well as ensure submission of CER prior to project start
  • Forecast reserves and value adjustments on a monthly basis
  • Track non-standard arrangements and ensure proper accounting of revenues
  • Ensure compliance with global project accounting policies
  • Report to Director of Finance and Administration monthly on the status of project economics
  • Work closely with Manager of Finance and Accounting to implement policies and procedures across the eight Southeast Asia office locations
  • Assist both local Finance teams and Corporate Tax Team with the WIP and AR aspects of local statutory and tax audits
  • Support projects and other ad-hoc queries
  • Take on other ad-hoc responsibilities that may be assigned 

Job requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance or equivalent from a reputable university
  • At least 5 years of finance experience in MNC environment ideally with exposure in consulting firms
  • Articulate in English for both oral and written communication
  • Advance proficiency in Microsoft Office and exposure to web-based analysis tools
  • Good interpersonal skills, independent, analytical thinking, multi–tasking and able to work with geographically dispersed team
