Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Malaysia is recruiting on behalf of a preeminent property development company which consists of several subsidiary companies. They have the ability to identify the niche markets and principle of producing quality products and a group of dedicated and committed employees who share the same mission and vision.

Our respected client is seeking a qualified individual with at least 5 years of experience for the job of Purchasing Manager. The job is based in Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia. 

Job responsibilities:

  • Lead the purchasing department, to oversee and be responsible for the administration of purchasing
  • To effectively do basic sourcing from suppliers and obtain quotes from various suppliers for comparison
  • Negotiate with suppliers from local and international to ensure optimal value, without compromising on quality of the materials
  • Ensure purchases meet business requirement – to be responsible for quality and specifications of products purchased and comply with standard delivery criteria
  • Control the purchasing cost and ensure efficient delivery time and quality goods
  • Present products/services comparison and proposal in a clear and concise report to management for decision making
  • To review vendor’s quotation, conduct price negotiation and negotiate the best credit terms
  • To conduct market survey on items to compare and ensure for regular updates
  • On annual basis review the supplier’s performance
  • Recruit, train and groom talent
  • To undertake ad-hoc duties assigned by management from time to time 


Job requirements: 

  • Degree holder in the field of Supply Chain & Logistics or equivalent
  • Possess minimum 5 years working experience in palm oil mill industry or refinery with 2 to 3 years exposure in a managerial role
  • Able to lead a team of people and develop the team
  • A big-picture thinking person who can envision the future and work on the present to achieve goals
  • Strong sense of responsibility and trustworthiness
  • One who delegates the right job to the right person
  • Good decision making to determine which action would yield the best outcome towards the success of the company
  • Good stress management to maintain a positive work environment
  • Good knowledge of the industry trends and technology
  • Excellent language skills in English, Mandarin, Malay and capability of other language would be an added advantage
