Executive recruitment company, Monroe Consulting Group Thailand is recruiting on behalf of a well-established conglomerate with subsidiaries in the hospitality and retail industry. Our respected client is seeking a well rounded merchandising and marketing professional for the job of Retail Marketing and Merchandising Manager to oversee all new and existing developments of the retail expansion project. The job is based in Bangkok.

The Retail Marketing and Merchandising Manager will lead and inspire the team to optimize sales and profitability in the store using knowledge of the market, of competition and of target customers. They will also work to develop sales and marketing activities in an efficient and effective way, using all forms of media, in order to attract more customers to visit and buy more.

Job responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute various store rotation schedules for the appropriate region
  • Manage and validate model store programs for the assigned area
  • Develop and ensure compliance to budget for the whole merchandising process
  • Remain up-to-date on market potential and work on all operations and other functions to plan and implement back end and commercial activities which will convert more visitors to customers
  • Encourage teams to take fast action on commercial opportunities and customer feedback
  • Responsible for supply and demand planning, with knowledge of inventory control
  • Supervise and ensure effectiveness of all merchant activities
  • Monitor and apply various merchandising methods and ensure an increase in productivity 
  • Ensure that shopkeepers correctly manage sales space capacity and product availability
  • Understand the commercial calendar to ensure that the range changes within each shop are planned and managed in a simple and commercial way which reflect local market needs
  • Ensure that the store is always in shape with fully stocked sales spaces throughout the day, and that shopkeepers are ready and available to serve customers
  • Support other functions, like presenting products in ways that reflect the breadth and depth of the company’s product range, in order to satisfy and inspire buying trends
  • Analyze the store’s performance and use this information to identify solutions and ideas for improving the company’s sales system 
  • Monitor the retail prices of competitors and maintain appropriate pricing for products accordingly
  • Co-ordinate country input and store potential in order to secure sales, gross profit budgets and the gross margin for the store
  • Constantly monitor performance against agreed goals, adapting, taking action when required
  • Deliver on agreed goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) 
  • Ensure all sales initiatives grow our business and sustain long-term profitability
  • Manage multiple projects, and monitor and allocate appropriate resources to various accounts
  • Supervise everyday operations and monitor progress of each project
  • Coordinate with store management, and hire and train store associates

Job requirements:

  • At least 6 years working experience of store/branch/retail management in a fast paced organization, preferably within the Retail or Service Industry
  • Fluent in English communication, both written & spoken
  • Computer literate (MS-Office programs) 
  • University degree or equivalent qualification required
  • Experience of working in a customer-focused service Industry
  • Understanding of profit and loss and how to affect it through departmental actions 
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, negotiation, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • Resourceful, self-motivated & result-oriented
