Monroe Indonesia Recruitment Consultants Donate Performance Awards to Orphaned Children

Consultants from executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Indonesia’s Technology Division cashed in their performance awards and donated the proceeds to an orphanage for impoverished, abandoned children over the weekend.

Recruitment consultant Adeline Wu, the Technology Department’s leading performer for 2016, and colleague Jason Sihotang, who excelled in business development in the third quarter, presented the money to Pelayanan Kasih Bhakti Mandiri in Cibubur, East Jakarta, on Saturday.

In addition, the Technology team, who have named themselves ‘FUNTastech,’ donated additional items for everyday use, including rice, cooking oil, tissue, baby soap, baby shampoo, nappies, detergent and household cleaners.

Tina Nugraheni, head of the Technology Division, said FUNTastech’s enthusiasm had spread to other departments within Monroe Indonesia, including Consumer Goods, Industry, Health, and Banking, Finance and Insurance, which had also donated items.

“I would say that I am blessed with this super team, they are lovely souls,” Tina said. “They thoroughly prepared for this, working together to collect items to donate and gather more money. I couldn’t be more proud.”

The orphanage is home to 91 former street children, both boys and girls ranging in age from new-borns to older teens, with the majority being of elementary school age. Some of the children had been in very bad physical condition when they were first taken in, living rough on the streets and eking out a basic living collecting trash or busking.

Tina said it was a delight to gather with the children to help prepare lunch, as well as listen to a singing performance and spend time chatting and playing. “It was a humbling and touching experience for our team, and it is important to realise how lucky many of us are and the unfortunate circumstances many children find themselves in in Jakarta.”
