Monroe Consulting Group Indonesia started to support Ketua Yayasan Sekolah Rakyat Bogor at the start of 2012. We selected this “free school” project because of aspiration to deliver education and opportunities for people who are in need.
Some of the Indonesian team recently visited one of the free schools we support in Cijeruk Bogor. The school provides free junior to senior high school education to 106 children in the area. The site for the school was generously donated by Ibu Tini dan H. Ali Nurdin and continues to thrive with the support of Monroe and donations from individuals. We received a very warm welcome from everybody at the school and were entertained with speeches and music by the children. Our Deputy Country Manager Bagus then gave the children a presentation on education and career options, which was well received by the Children.
The presentation sparked a lot of questions from the children and it is clear that many of the children have a strong entrepreneurial spirit. So much so that Monroe will be designing and implementing a “Entrepreneur Award” programme, that will help teach children how to formulate a solid business plan and implement it. We intend to provide start-up funding for the best 3 business plans and act as mentors to help with a successful implantation.
Following the presentation, we played a number of games with the Children, including Career Bingo, English Quiz and Football Skills. By all accounts the team from Monroe had a lot of fun during their visit and was thankful for being made so welcome.
