Monroe Support MAIN with anniversary Children’s Concert

Monroe Consulting Group Indonesia was privileged to be able to lend its support to a special concert to mark the third anniversary of Yayasan Mitra Anak Indonesia (Main), a non-profit, medical-led organisation that provides free care and comfort to poverty-stricken children who are sick or terminally ill.

Held at the Bank Mandiri Museum in Kota, Jakarta, on July 19th, around 150 children were given the chance to shine during the Indonesia Kids Day celebration, which featured a number of events, including storytelling and singing competitions.

Monroe deputy country manager Bagus Hendrayono said the event highlighted the high levels of talent among Indonesian youth, even among the marginalized group of disadvantaged children, which included orphans and street children. “Every child, whether they won a trophy or not, was a winner,” Bagus said. “It was truly inspirational and an honour to be here.”

Bagus said a particular highlight was a performance by a band featuring seriously ill children who require monthly blood transfusions to combat their conditions. “They blew everybody away. The band rocked,” he said.

Monroe Executive Recruitment Consultant Annice Agusta, who took to the stage for a solo performance featuring guitar and vocals, said she had never been involved in such an event before.

“Though I was only there for a small moment in time, it was really beautiful to see the children laughing and playing, forgetting how tough the world is for just a moment – it made my day and I certainly hope it I helped in even the smallest way,” Annice said. “It is impossible for one person to be able to do everything, but everyone can do something to make a person’s day brighter. Even the smallest acts of caring have the potential to turn a life around.”

Monroe Regional Director Andrew Hairs, who served as a judge during the event, paid tribute to Main as an organisation and the commitment it had demonstrated in bringing joy to the lives of vulnerable children over the last three years.

“We have had the honour of supporting Main for about a year and today’s event has only further strengthened our commitment to this incredibly wonderful organisation,” Hairs said.
