Technology Graduates Told at E-commerce Discussion

  • Publish Date: Posted 差不多 8 年之前

Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Indonesia is actively encouraging technology-savvy Indonesians studying or working abroad to commit to launching their careers in Indonesia as the E-commerce industry continues its rapid growth.

Tina Nugraheni, head of Monroe Indonesia’s Technology Division, is this week visiting the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology to share her insights on the E-commerce industry and job prospects within the industry.

Indonesia is targeting US$130 billion in E-commerce transactions by 2020 but is experiencing a shortage of information technology professionals to fuel this growth. Senior government officials have been urging qualified Indonesian expatriates living abroad to return home.

Just last week, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s acknowledged that Indonesia was being “left behind” by other countries in the rapidly evolving E-commerce industry.

Tina said Jokowi’s comments were appreciated. “Even more encouraging is his desire to do something about it and implement steps to ensure that Indonesian entrepreneurs can compete in not only Southeast Asia, but also globally,” Tina said.

She said 300 Indonesians were currently studying at Taiwan Tech, one of the world’s leading universities. About 30 students who were graduating this year attended the discussion, she said.

“We discussed the technology sector in general, E-commerce and job prospects,” Tina said. “The message was quite simple: Indonesia needs you.”
