General Manager - Freight Forwarding (based in Jakarta)

Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Indonesia is recruiting on behalf of a leading Indonesian provider of integrated transport and logistics solution. As expansion continues, our client is seeking a professional with at least 15-20 years' experience in transport and logistics for the job of General Manager - Freight Forwarding (based in Jakarta). The job is based in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Key job responsibilities include:

  • Report directly to BOD
  • As a key member of the Board of Directors, will jointly work with the CEO for entire logistics management
  • Create a cost solution and business development plan
  • Establish the business strategy for Air and Sea fright, transportation, warehouse, freight forwarding, custom clearance, etc.
  • Develop solutions, strategies, and assessment of current industry impact to ensure customer satisfaction and business continuity, in line with the company's strategy
  • Managing pricing cost of service and customer requirement
  • Covering all aspects of core activities, protection of company assets (inventory and equipment), contract negotiation and management, performance management and safety compliance
  • Freight - management and negotiation of international and domestic freight contracts ensuring lowest cost and highest service objectives are aligned and achieved
  • Continuous Improvement - continually strive to look for continuous improvement opportunities across Safety, Service Quality and Process Employee Development
  • Provide leadership to the supply chain management team, through addressing the technical and operational aspects of potential customer
  • Strong acumen in Financial Management: Operational Cost and Budgeting Control
  • Asset performance monitoring, assessment and determine the risk, mitigate and implement a solution to achieve the company's objectives
  • Leadership by managing a cross-functional team to meet business objectives

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in logistics, or discipline from reputable university
  • Minimum 15 years' experience in freight forwarding
  • Expert in funding (Banking relation),
  • Understanding of law and regulation, solution, business proposal
  • Marketing skill, able to execute business plan, strategic thinking (holistic)
  • Analytical skills and sound financial understanding of the supply chain
  • Knowledge of the marine logistics suppliers that operate in the market
  • Excellent project management skills - with ability to identify critical path issues and develop solutions to keep a program on track
  • Clear understanding of ethics and compliance issues
  • Strong strategic purchasing and negotiations skills are required
  • Strong problem-solving and creative skills
  • Experiences at logistics and shipping industry are preferred
  • Solid leadership skills, mentoring and coaching
  • Strong problem-solving ability and effective employee management experience
