Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Malaysia is recruiting on behalf of a leading FMCG manufacturer of quality chocolates, confectioneries, and beverages. Our esteemed client is seeking a New Product Development Manager with extensive experience in the FMCG industry to be based in Selangor, Malaysia.

Job Responsibilities:

New Product Strategy & Innovation

  • Spot consumer trends, market gaps, and category opportunities to support product innovation.
  • Lead idea generation and concept development, working with R&D to test new product formulations, packaging, and formats.
  • Conduct market and competitor research to build a strong innovation pipeline.

Cross-Functional Project Management

  • Work with teams across Marketing, Sales, R&D, Trade Marketing, Supply Chain, and Quality to bring new products to market smoothly.
  • Manage projects from start to finish, ensuring alignment with brand goals, timelines, budgets, and regulations.
  • Review product launches and suggest improvements.

Brand & Consumer Engagement

  • Develop go-to-market plans including branding, packaging, and promotional activities in-store and online.
  • Guide internal and external creative teams on design and marketing materials.
  • Coordinate with advertising, PR, media, and digital partners to support product awareness.

Operational & Strategic Optimization

  • Improve NPD processes to boost cost-efficiency, reduce lead time, and support sustainability.
  • Work with internal manufacturing teams and external vendors to ensure scalable production.
  • Help develop long-term cost-saving strategies.

Special Projects & Growth Initiatives

  • Lead strategic projects like flagship retail launches, new market entries, or sustainability-driven innovations.
  • Support potential mergers, acquisitions, or partnerships that align with product growth plans.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Track product development, sales, and key milestones; share insights with senior management.
  • Take responsibility for food safety and address any related issues.
  • Join or lead cross-functional or ad-hoc projects as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • At least 7 years of experience in FMCG marketing, product development, or innovation, with a track record of successful launches.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Analytical thinker with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Creative and consumer-focused, with a good commercial sense.
  • Familiar with product regulations and food safety standards.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification is a plus.
