PURCHASING MANAGER

Job Purpose:

Lead and manage Operational Purchasing to ensure optimal inventory and availability of Raw Materials (RM), Purchased Finished Goods (PFG), and Direct Packaging Materials (DPM), based on Group Purchasing's (GP) regional and global agreements (or local agreements if delegated by the GP category team), policies and procedures, enabling the company to achieve the desired delivery service to the customers. Manage Indirect Materials (IM) purchases in cooperation with user departments to ensure the best possible value for money and reduce risk in line with GP guidelines and policies in support of the company's business targets.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the local purchasing function in line with Leadership Expectations and tools to develop, coach, and guide its members to ensure a workforce that is competent, engaged, and enabled to meet Jotun's current and future needs.
  • Facilitate cross-functional cooperation and ensure optimal RM/PFG/DPM planning and execution and that all RM/PFG/DPM are ordered in line with price agreements and allocations given by GP category managers.
  • Only when delegated by the GP category team secure the best possible price agreements for RM/PFG/DPM and suppliers as assigned.
  • Effective and continuous follow-up of RM orders, communicating issues as needed.
  • Communicate with GP category managers regarding RM/PFG/DPM requirements, supplier performance, shortages, non-conformances, etc.
  • Evaluate optimal logistics solution, considering packaging type and size, lot size, use of distributors, transport, local customs regulations, local laws, etc., for all RMs and communicate the findings to relevant GP category managers.
  • Support GP category managers in identifying potential local suppliers and maintaining existing relationships (including supplier audits and participation in supplier meetings on request from GP category managers)
  • Follow up and report to local management and GP on agreed on local KPIs for IM and RM price development and participate in local management meetings as and when agreed with the local GM/MD.
  • Ensure local parameters in Matrix are in accordance with operational purchasing principles (under development)
  • Manage all IM spending in close cooperation with GP and internal stakeholders (user departments), delegate low-value IM purchases to user departments, and ensure the appropriate use of Matrix.
  • Ensure supplier invoice control is carried out in line with company guidelines, relevant customs regulations and procedures are followed and facilitated, and all supplier invoices are paid within the due date.



Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field. A master's degree in procurement or supply chain management may be preferred.
  • Experience: Several years of relevant experience in procurement and supply chain management, with a proven track record of successful vendor negotiations and cost savings.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Leadership: Effective leadership and team management abilities.
  • Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
