Monroe Consulting Group Indonesia, on behalf of a notable general insurance company, is currently seeking a Technical Director to lead the company's technical functions and strengthen its underwriting discipline, risk governance, and claims management framework. This role will play a critical part in ensuring the company maintains strong technical profitability while supporting sustainable business growth.
The ideal candidate will come from a general insurance background, with strong expertise in underwriting and claims, and preferably with exposure to health insurance portfolios. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the company's technical functions, including underwriting, claims management, and risk governance.
- Develop and implement underwriting guidelines, risk selection frameworks, and pricing strategies to ensure portfolio profitability.
- Strengthen the claims management framework to ensure efficiency, fairness, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Provide technical oversight and governance across various insurance lines, with particular attention to health insurance products.
- Monitor risk exposure across the portfolio and ensure alignment with the company's risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with business and distribution teams to balance commercial growth with prudent risk management.
- Support product development by providing technical insights, risk assessment, and pricing considerations.
- Maintain strong relationships with regulators, reinsurers, and external partners where relevant.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the technical team to ensure high standards of underwriting and claims excellence.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Actuarial Science, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in general insurance, with significant exposure to underwriting and claims management.
- Preferably experienced in handling or overseeing health insurance portfolios.
- Strong technical knowledge of insurance risk assessment, underwriting governance, and claims operations.
- Relevant risk management or insurance certifications (such as AAIK, AIIS, or other recognized professional certifications) are highly preferred.
- Proven leadership experience managing technical or operational teams within insurance companies.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Familiarity with Indonesian insurance regulations and industry practices.
