Job Summary:
We are looking for a seasoned US Tax Manager to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in US taxation, particularly in public accounting, and will be responsible for supervising tax engagements, reviewing tax returns, providing consulting services, and mentoring junior staff. This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of US tax laws, and a passion for delivering high-quality service to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Become proficient with the firm's internal policies and procedures
- Review business and individual tax returns (Forms 1040, 1065, 1120S) prepared by staff for accuracy and compliance
- Apply advanced technical skills to identify planning opportunities, resolve tax issues, and ensure completeness of returns before final review
- Provide tax research and consulting services based on client needs and compliance challenges
- Manage client engagements including planning, supervision, and coordination of tax consulting projects
- Identify tax planning and consulting opportunities, including collaboration with clients' external advisors
- Take on administrative responsibilities to support the firm's management and operations
- Maintain regular communication with clients and act as the primary point of contact
- Lead, mentor, and train junior staff; review their work and provide constructive feedback
- Collaborate with colleagues to monitor project progress and deliverables
- Support practice development by identifying cross-selling opportunities and engaging potential new clients
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in public accounting
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience with US taxation
- Proven supervisory or managerial experience
- Solid understanding of journal entry preparation and accounting methods (accrual vs. cash basis)
- Deep knowledge of US tax laws for S-Corps, C-Corps, Partnerships, Individuals, and foreign informational reporting
- Experience with multi-state tax filings, consolidated returns, estates, and trusts
- Familiarity with GAAP and tax forms including 1040, 1120, 1065, 5471, 5472, FBAR, etc.
- Proficient in accounting software such as UltraTax CS, CCH ProSystems, QuickBooks, and/or Practice CS
- Strong Excel skills for financial data management and analysis
- Excellent communication and client engagement skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage both personal workload and team deliverables
- Willing to work on a night shift in a hybrid setup
