Job Summary:
- The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design, planning, installation, testing, and maintenance of mechanical systems for our various construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, relevant Philippine codes and standards (such as ASHRAE standards adapted locally), excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams.
Key job responsibilities include:
- Mechanical System Design: Develop detailed mechanical designs, including HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems, plumbing and drainage systems, fire protection systems, and other related mechanical infrastructure, considering energy efficiency and local climate conditions in the Philippines.
- Load Calculation and Analysis: Perform accurate heating and cooling load calculations, ventilation requirements, and other mechanical system sizing.
- Preparation of Drawings and Specifications: Prepare detailed mechanical drawings, schematics, and specifications for construction, adhering to industry best practices and local regulations.
- Material and Equipment Selection: Select appropriate mechanical materials, equipment, and fixtures that meet project requirements, budget constraints, and local availability.
- Coordination with Other Disciplines: Collaborate closely with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and other project team members to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems within the overall building design.
- Site Supervision and Inspection: Oversee the installation of mechanical systems on-site, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Testing and Commissioning: Conduct thorough testing and commissioning of mechanical systems to verify proper functionality and performance.
- Problem Solving: Identify and resolve mechanical issues that may arise during the construction process.
- Documentation: Prepare as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and other relevant mechanical documentation.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all mechanical work adheres to relevant Philippine codes, standards (e.g., locally adopted ASHRAE), and company safety policies.
- Project Management Support: Assist project managers with mechanical-related aspects of project planning, scheduling, and cost control.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
- Professional Mechanical Engineer (PME) license in the Philippines is preferred but not always required for entry level positions, depending on the company's requirements and project scope. A Registered Mechanical Engineer (RME) license is a minimum requirement for many roles.
- Proven experience of at least [Number] years as a Mechanical Engineer in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, fire protection, and other building mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with relevant Philippine codes and standards (e.g., locally adapted ASHRAE, National Plumbing Code of the Philippines, Fire Code of the Philippines).
- Proficiency in mechanical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP, Trace).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with safety procedures and regulations in construction sites
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with specific types of construction projects (e.g., high-rise buildings, industrial plan projects).
- Knowledge of sustainable and energy-efficient electrical design practices.
- Familiarity with project management principles.
