Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Philippines is recruiting on behalf of a well-established organization that provides micro-finance services to underprivileged entrepreneurs. They are looking for an experienced Region Head who is willing to do field work as part of the role. The job is based in Cebu City, Philippines.

Job summary:

The Region Head provides guidance and leadership and is responsible for the administration and efficient operations of branches within his/her assigned region, ensuring growth and sustainability of the Region. He /She ensures Program and Policy Administration, Customer Service, Staffing, and People Management, and develops strategic and operational plans and strategies to achieve Operational and Financial targets within his/her area of coverage. He/She monitors KPIs and goals and makes adjustments to meet them.

Oversees the branch operation activities within his/her cluster, meeting operational targets and is responsible for ensuring the region's overall performance. The Region Head is likewise responsible for identifying and analyzing opportunities for his/her region for branch expansion. He/She is likewise responsible for the functions/tasks/activities related to supervision of the area of operations, market positioning, forecasting, program and policy administration, customer service, staffing and people management, and achievement of operational and financial targets.

For purposes of control, the Region Head may likewise be assigned or cross posted to other Regions within a defined period of time.

Key job responsibilities include:

Strategic Leadership and Operational Planning

  • Provides leadership and management for the Region to ensure that the Regional Operations has the proper operational controls
  • Ideates and participates in operational planning; develops operational plans and activities to ensure achievement of financial and operational targets
  • Prepares Regional operations reports and updates during regular meetings and OpsCom
  • Identifies and analyzes opportunities for growth and expansion of the Region. Analyzes the viability of opening a new branch in specific locations with particular emphasis on operational funding structure and legislative needs.
  • Supports the management team in implementing a shared vision for the organization and establishing an environment that facilitates and motivates employees in working toward achievement of operational and organizational goals
  • Prepares and consolidates annual budget for the region and endorses to management for approval

Program/Business Effectiveness Impact

  • Oversees the implementation of the plans, strategies and forecasts for the Region. Reviews strategies regularly to ensure achievement of operational and financial targets. Recommends actions/strategies to improve service delivery.
  • Monitors operational performance on a daily basis and financial performance on a monthly basis vis-à-vis targets. Reviews reports prepared by the district and ensures accuracy, reliability and timely submission thereof. Promotes and monitors client retention status and continues to monitor the areas within his/her coverage to ensure realization of targets.
  • Supervises and coaches direct reports of the region - district heads, area heads, branch managers and all staff under his/her direct or indirect supervision on a continuous basis and provides motivation and staff retention
  • Collaborates with unit leads of support units (SIPs) to ensure that each function stays supportive and aligned in meeting the goals of the region, district, area and branches.
  • Ensures that the Region fully complies with existing operating guidelines, rules, regulations, policies and standard operating procedures, especially Operations Policies. Conducts scheduled and unscheduled Branch Visits and surprise checks in branches within his/her cluster/region, to ensure compliance to operating guidelines, rules, regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Oversees adherence to credit and risk control's policy in operational areas. Continuously evaluates risk areas in the area of operations and provides observations, analysis and recommendations for possible policy/process to mitigate the risk. Manages credit risk and portfolio quality of the Branches within the region.
  • Manages cost, increase revenues and improve the overall operational performance of the Region.
  • Consistently reviews capacity and workload of staff of his/her region, makes the necessary adjustments or provides recommendations to Management where there is a need to review staff workload

Stakeholders and Relationship Management

  • Demonstrates positive and actual meaningful engagement with all clients, customers, and stakeholders of the businesses
  • Establishes and maintains harmonious relationships with support units and other department leads
  • Brand ambassador, internally and externally
  • Complies with the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy of the enterprise. Ensures that team members within his/her region of coverage complies to the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. Provides incident reports to the Head for Operations violations of the policies.

Human Resource Development

  • Works with Human Capital District Coordinators and Talent Acquisition team to ensure the region's operations meets its staffing needs as well as organizational and team competencies.
  • Develops and maintains a pipeline/stream of the right people for succession Identifies possible high potentials and ensures development of the high potentials for possible promotion.
  • Promotes free exchange of information leading to increased trust and partnership among staff and Management. Maintains an open line of communication and continuous exchange of information to strengthen cooperation and camaraderie within and between teams.

Key job requirements include:

  • Degree holder of a Business Management or a Commerce course; Preferably with post-graduate Studies
  • Professional Certification an advantage
  • At least five (5) years of managerial experience
  • With extensive experience in operational/administrative management, in a micro-finance institution or bank, in a mid-level management capacity
  • Experience being a Regional Head for Program and Policy Administration within the Region of assignment
  • Knowledge of Operations of a Bank or Micro-Finance Institution.
  • Understands key control points and risks inherent in the trade.
  • Articulate and able to organize thoughts and is able to provide clear reports for branch operations review.
  • The job requires physically fit candidates as it constitutes mostly field based work.
  • The candidate must be God-fearing with a positive and mature outlook, open-minded, analytical with a heart of capacitating others, responsible, patient and hardworking, willing to go on constant travel and do field work, flexible, fair and focused.
  • Willing to be in a Field Work 50% of the time.
