Senior Manager Legal Operations (Mining Owner)

Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Indonesia is recruiting on behalf of a leading national company with a core focus on mining owner. As expansion continues, our client is seeking a professional with at least 20 years' experience in mining for the job of Senior Manager Legal Operations. The job is based in East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

Key job responsibilities include:

  • Reporting to Director
  • Primarily responsible for managing and overseeing the Company's site legal functions for its mining operations
  • Oversee strategic planning, organizing permits, communications, various reports and supporting Deputy Director Legal & Corporate Affair including interface with other managers at the Company
  • Managing 5 department of legal operation such as operational permit department, dispute management department, litigation department, land management department & forestry compliance department (will be managing approximately >20 employees)
  • Manage legal operation division budget
  • Managing the organisation's risk framework and internal audit process, completing reviews of contracts and legal requirements and promoting a strong compliance culture
  • Achieves corporate compliance operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in law from reputable university
  • At least have 20 years of work experience as a practicing lawyer or as in-house counsel and managing team of lawyers/in-house counsels
  • Experience in Mining Industry will be an advantage
  • Hold an Indonesian Advocate License (mandatory requirement)
  • Experienced in various aspects of site legal operations (operational permit, dispute management, litigation, relationship with the government, land management, forestry compliance, and managing legal operation division budget)
  • Have good risk management and compliance knowledge, with previous experience in either audit or commercial legal compliance
  • Strong communicator, both written and verbally, with the ability to engage and influence across the business
  • Familiarity with industry practices and professional standards

  • Willing to be placed in client mine-site East Kalimantan, with roster 5 weeks on-site and 2 weeks off (leave will be fully accommodated to PoH)
