Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Philippines is recruiting on behalf of a leading provider of one-stop-shop solutions to help clients in implementing their business. Our client currently provides administrative and IT services to businesses in the United States and Japan and continuously expanding their services and clientele to become a global scale IT solutions provider. They are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Senior System Administrator. The job is based in Makati City, Philippines but currently offers a work-from-home arrangement until further notice.

Job Summary:

The Senior System Administrator is responsible for managing the company's server and network infrastructures and ensuring that all organization's software, hardware, servers and networks run smoothly.

Key job responsibilities include:

  • Administration and Monitoring
    • Regular monitoring/assessment of the performance and security of the company's data centers/servers (JAPAN, US, and soon in SWEDEN) and related equipment to ensure acceptable up time and acceptable quality of service.
      • Includes accessing internal and external portals (Nagios/MRTG and other upcoming monitoring to be implemented) and conducting tests.
    • Handles alert maintenance or incident of internal servers and coordinates with third-party providers the configuration and maintenance of outsourced company's services.
    • Monitors/notifies/implements the status changes of any configurations made/user access accounts as directed by the authorized parties.
    • Regularly monitors/create ticket for alerts/cases/unplanned maintenance/renewal/expiry of server and network status and utilization reports.
    • Proactively review contract renewals, domain registrations, security certificates, etc.
    • Coordinates with department's manager/supervisor and internal/external partners regarding planned infrastructure activities (e.g., upgrade of software or hardware) and unplanned activities (e.g., network trouble) to ensure the immediate restoration of affected company's services.
  • Reports Management
    • Provides reports to the internal partners (managers and business-related units in case they need comprehensive information about the incident pertaining to INFRA).
    • Provides ad hoc reports that may be required by internal partners as well as the company's clients.
    • Gives timely feedback and updates to concerned parties (i.e., System Administrators, Manager, Operations Manager, Systems and Network Operations) regarding system changes and advisories.
  • Project Implementation
    • Attends meetings in coordination with internal and external partners to evaluate the required resources relevant to prospective client needs.
    • Coordinates with internal and external clients to assess the availability of facilities and prospective applications and solutions.
    • Implements and completes approved project activities based on timelines set including the delivery and acceptance of solutions and services.
  • Technical Escalation
    • Takes accountability for technical issues that are escalated to the group.
    • Coordinates with partners regarding technical issues that are covered by the service level agreement.
    • Provides timely feedback and updates to Manager, team members and other employees regarding system changes and advisories.
  • Others
    • Observes and follows all applicable company policies and procedures.

Key job requirements include:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related disciplines
  • At least 3-10 years of Linux (CentOS / RHEL / Windows) System Administrator experience in a web hosting environment.
  • At least three or more (3+) years of previous web hosting experience, domain, and email management and other hosting related tasks.
  • Experience working on server virtualization and containerization on both private and public cloud.
  • Experience of developing and implementing proactive monitoring and alerting for critical infrastructure and services and of creating and developing scripted solutions.
  • Diverse knowledge and proficiency in:
  • Linux (CentOS / RHEL / Windows)
  • Web hosting such as Admin, Reseller, or intermediate users for Plesk cPanel, WHM, FTP, CMS (Wordpress and others)
  • Server virtualization and containerization (VMware, Virtual Box, Docker, Kubernetes, KVM) on both private and public cloud (AWS, GCP and others)
  • Creating and developing scripted solutions (e.g., Anisble, Puppet, cfengine, Chef, shell scripts, Perl, Ruby, Python)
  • ITIL, COMPTIA+ ,AWS, Linux/Virtualization or any related certifications are plus factors
  • Interpersonal and communication skills in both oral and written English, including the ability to prepare reports.
