Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Malaysia is recruiting on behalf of a global leading medical device manufacturing company. As business growth and expansion continues, our respected client is seeking a Sourcing Manager to lead procurement activities for electronic components, monitors, sensors, and related services. This is a hybrid position to be based in Penang or Johor, Malaysia.
You will play a key role in setting up or strengthening local sourcing in Malaysia and the ASEAN region for new and ongoing projects, while working closely with global teams across Europe, the US etc.
Job Responsibilities:
Supplier Sourcing & Management:
- Find and evaluate suppliers for electronic components, monitors, and mechatronics.
- Build strong partnerships with suppliers in Malaysia and ASEAN.
- Act as the main point of contact for suppliers in the region, representing the company across various functions.
Negotiation & Contract Management:
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery timelines.
- Manage supplier contracts and ensure compliance.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality.
Cost & Quality Oversight:
- Review sourcing strategies to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure all sourced components meet required quality standards.
- Resolve supply chain issues and ensure timely deliveries.
Innovation & Market Trends:
- Stay informed on tech developments and supplier innovations.
- Monitor market risks like component obsolescence and adjust sourcing strategies accordingly.
- Support new technology adoption and innovation through smart sourcing.
Inventory & Demand Planning:
- Coordinate with inventory teams to ensure contracts and suppliers are in place.
- Manage delivery timelines and stock levels with suppliers.
- Forecast demand and plan sourcing to avoid shortages or delays.
Budget & Cost Tracking:
- Manage the sourcing budget and align it with financial goals.
- Report on spending, cost savings, and sourcing performance.
Risk Management
- Identify supply risks and develop backup plans.
- Address supplier issues before they impact production.
Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain clear records of purchasing activities and supplier communications.
- Provide regular updates on supplier performance and sourcing outcomes.
Requirements:
- Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field. Additional training in supply chain or procurement is a plus.
- 5+ years of sourcing/procurement experience in the electronics or medical device industry.
- Willing to work outside of usual office hours (EU/US timing)
- Strong technical knowledge of electronic components and industry trends.
- Excellent negotiation & supplier management skills.
- Strong understanding of sourcing strategies and market analysis.
- Knowledgeable in ERP software & Microsoft Office tools.
- Certifications in CSCP, CPSM, Six Sigma or Lean certifications would be advantageous.
