Executive recruitment firm Monroe Consulting Group Philippines is recruiting on behalf of a growing insurance company that offers a wide range of products including life and non-life insurance. Our respected client is seeking for a Legal Counsel who will provide legal advice, guidance, and representation to the organization. This role has an onsite work requirement in Muntinlupa and will be reporting to the Head of Legal and Compliance.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Provide sound legal advice on a broad range of issues including corporate, commercial, labor, regulatory, and data privacy laws.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate various legal documents, including contracts, MOUs, NDAs, and service agreements.
  • Support the preparation and submission of regulatory filings (e.g., to the Insurance Commission, Anti-Money Laundering Council, National Privacy Commission, and Securities and Exchange Commission)
  • Support internal departments with legal interpretations, policy reviews, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations that may affect the organization and proactively recommend appropriate actions.
  • Advise on corporate governance matters and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the management of legal disputes, including coordination with external counsel as needed.
  • Review and help implement company policies, processes, and procedures to ensure legal compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Support due diligence and other legal requirements related to mergers, acquisitions, or partnerships.
  • Maintain proper documentation and legal records in accordance with company policy.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on legal matters as required

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD); must be a licensed attorney.
  • At least of 1 year of relevant legal experience, preferably with exposure to corporate and commercial law.
  • Experience working in insurance or financial institutions is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of local and international legal frameworks and business regulations.
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders.
