Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group is recruiting on behalf world-leading consumer product and chemical manufacturer. They're in search of dynamic leaders to join their force as a Operations Manager.
The winning candidate will have responsibility for the day to manage the overall operations (supply chain, planning, buying, production, warehouse, customer service, site maintenance, H&S, QC& QA) of the newly started company manufacturing site for fragrance compound. This role relies on continuous improvement through pro-active leadership and development of direct reports and is responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and for running a cost-effective operation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • P&L Management
    • Deliver P&L to meet the organizational objective.
  • Operations Management
    • Lead and control the operations process for the Malaysia factory.
    • Report to and collaborate with Hong Kong factory in manufacturing fragrances for Malaysia and Far East customer.
    • Ensure satisfactory level of customer services, production efficiency and sufficient capacity for the business growth.
    • Lead activities of a cross-functional operation team, to include responsibility for team members
    • Maintain a good technical knowledge of operations; follow the escalation process to address and respond to abnormalities and recommend corrective action as required
    • Partner with other company department as Sales, IT, HR, H&S etc to ensure fair and consistent administration of all policies, work rules and processes
    • Provide supporting service to Malaysia Sales Office (eg IT, HR & H & S etc)
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Initiate and implement the manufacture improvement project according to the scaling up of demand
    • Drive problem-solving and root cause identification of problems for the manufacturing unit.
    • Continuously identify and work to reduce waste in the area for both short term and long-term improvement initiatives.
    • Lead regular meetings to review department issues. Prioritize and assign ownership for open items. Track items to closure and ensure follow-up with key stakeholders.
  • Safety
    • Introduce and adhere to the quality, environmental, health and safety standards of the company, local & industry requirements
    • Promote a strong safety-minded culture. Maintain an active safety program, ensuring the observation of safety precautions and safe work methods by all personnel, including behavior-based safety observations, safety meetings and safety audits.
    • Review and sign off investigations and manage the safety action item list, including corrective actions from near misses, accident report & assessments.
  • Quality and Environment
    • Ensure that the fragrances are manufactured according to the standard operating procedures.
    • Establish, review, update and make changes to Quality and Standard Operating Procedures with the input of the respective team members as and when required.
    • Monitor manufacturing processes, data & reports daily and drive the resolution or escalation for any changes or issues.
    • Work cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders to address and solve quality issues.
    • Lead any local and international standard implementation (e.g.ISO 9001, Halal) & re-certification for the site along with the QHSE Manager.
    • Monitor Customer complaints, non-conformances and vendor complaints and ensure that they are addressed as per the procedures.
    • Ensure the proper functioning of critical factory infrastructure & systems (eg. A/C, Solar Panel, Hot Water & Waste Water treatment etc)
  • Leadership and Team Management
    • Lead and coach the new management team to perform individually and collectively for company objectives
    • To define and assign the ownership of new tasks in factory to appropriate department
    • Provide active day-to-day leadership for a highly energized, integrated, cross-functional manufacturing team.
    • Create objectives for each member of the team. Ensure individual career coaching, performance feedback, employee training and development. Participate in the annual performance review process.
    • Partner with HR to recruit resources to fill team needs in a timely fashion as and when required.
    • Develop and mentor future leaders for the business.
    • Partner with HR to ensure fair and consistent administration of all policies, work rules and processes.
