Operations Director (Steel Manufacture)

Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Indonesia is recruiting on behalf of a Local Steel Manufacturer Company for the role of Operation Director

Operations Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations across manufacturing plants, maintenance, logistics, and warehousing.
  • Drive continuous improvement in productivity, quality, safety, and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, health & safety regulations, and ISO certifications


Manufacturing & Production

  • Manage production planning and scheduling to meet delivery targets and customer demand.
  • Ensure optimal use of labor, machinery, and raw materials to maximize output.
  • Implement and monitor KPIs related to production efficiency, downtime, OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), etc.


Supply Chain & Procurement

  • Lead end-to-end supply chain strategy including sourcing, inventory control, logistics, warehousing, and distribution.
  • Build a reliable supplier base for key raw materials (e.g., billets, rods, wire coils) with a focus on quality and cost.
  • Manage procurement budgets and negotiate favorable contracts with vendors and logistics providers.
  • Implement demand forecasting and inventory optimization tools to reduce waste and excess stock.


Logistics & Distribution

  • Coordinate timely delivery of finished goods to domestic and export customers.
  • Improve fleet management, route planning, and delivery tracking systems.
  • Oversee export-import compliance, customs processes, and freight documentation.


Strategic Planning & Process Optimization

  • Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with overall business goals.
  • Implement lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Support digital transformation projects (ERP, MES, WMS) to streamline processes.


Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Lead, mentor, and develop plant managers, supply chain personnel, and engineering teams.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Finance, R&D, and HR departments to align operational goals.


Job Requirements :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field
  • Master's Degree (MBA / Operations Management) is a strong advantage.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of operational leadership experience in manufacturing, preferably in steel, wire, or heavy industry.
  • Proven track record in managing multi-site operations and large teams.
  • Strong background in supply chain, procurement, or production planning.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Deep understanding of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities.
  • Fluent in Bahasa Indonesia; English proficiency is preferred (especially for export-related operations).
