Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group is exclusively partnered with a leading MNC that provides EPCC for chemical plants. Our client is seeking a Piping Design Engineer with at least 5 years' relevant experience in Piping Design.
The successful applicant is expected to be familiar and competent in pipe routing, designing 3D piping layouts, piping stress test and relevant software. This position will be based in Shah Alam and reports to the Head of Mechanical Engineering.
Job responsibilities:
- To design, route and consider the equipment and piping design model in order to meet the objectives, in accordance with the relevant document requirements
- Head responsibility in designing and modelling 3D designs of plant equipment and pipe routing design
- Prepare 3D models and perform piping studies for all equipment
- Maintain conformity with project specifications and requirements, with respect to accessibility, operations and maintainability of equipment
- Perform pipe routing studies and modelling
- Maintain conformity to P&ID and Line List, ensuring that specific process requirements (such as slope, free flow and no pockets etc.) are incorporated
- Maintain conformity with JSD for Piping Design, Workplace Design Specification and Working Instruction
- Perform incorporation of Stress Calculation Notes into Piping Design
- Consider Pipe Spacing (insulation thickness, guide and stopper)
- Consider pipe flexibility for stress line categories 1, 2 and 3
- Prepare adequate operation and maintenance space such as ladders, stairs and service platforms for valves, flanges, joints and instruments
- Study, identify and propose pipe support locations, and prepare pipe support attachments for issuance to the Project Leader
- Solicit advice from either Piping Lead, Piping Checker or Area/Module/Unit Lead if there are any Piping Design Concerns
- Ensure 3D Models designed are clash free via coordination with various disciplines (such as E&I, Structural etc.)
- Model Piping Standard Supports in a 3D Model
- Conduct piping review with the site supervisor/engineer before piping installation on-site
Job requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering with at least 5 years relevant experience in piping design
- Experience in designing piping layouts and 3D piping modelling is essential
- Able to perform Computer Aided Design (CAD) using software such as AutoCAD 3D, CADWorx, or AutoPlant is essential
- Knowledge in Pipe Stress Analysis, Finite Element Analysis and ASME is highly advantageous
- Experienced in piping software such as CAESAR II, AutoPIPE or AVEVA PDMS is highly advantageous
- Strong communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia is essential
- Travelling is required up to 40%
- Able to meet and understand client requirements
