QC Manager (Oleochemical)

Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Indonesia is recruiting on behalf of a leading multinational company with a core focus on manufacturing. As expansion continues, our client is seeking a professional with at least 10 years' experience in quality control in multinational company for the job of QC Manager. The job is based in Medan, Indonesia.

Key job responsibilities include:

  • Direct report to the Director
  • Responsible for R&D and Quality Assurance functions for Soap Business, this includes but is not limited to R&D, QA/QC with a focus on research and development activities, quality improvement, standard and system, customer satisfaction, and liaising with other departments and regulatory bodies.
  • Lead the activities of the department and staff, developing, implementing, and maintaining a system of quality and reliability testing for the organization's products. Introduce new methods, products, and breakthrough ideas and processes.
  • Support departmental plan & lead the ISO & other required implementation of Quality Standards contributing efficiency of the organization.
  • Plan, implement, and use functions budget efficiently.
  • Support process in a timely manner with analysis, method development, process investigation, and troubleshooting & approvals.
  • Keep abreast of the latest ISO system, Quality specific instrumentation & measurement equipment, and tech developments in various lines of the business with the objective of achieving the highest quality standard and meeting customers' demands.
  • Ensure regular quality audits and oversee the implementation of quality improvements.
  • To address and resolve customer complaints (internal & external, follow-up actions, report to management).
  • Lead and facilitate the establishment of a quality culture across the organization. Working closely with operations and other stakeholders to achieve the objective.
  • To conduct authorized activities under SAP and other system.
  • Create awareness about R&D, and QA through regular communication and training for the whole factory operation.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree/Professional Degree in Engineering, or related field with at least 10 years' experience in QC
  • Chemistry and analytical chemistry as well as application knowledge. Knowledge of applications related to industrial usage as well as cosmetic and hygiene products usages.
  • Hands-on understanding and experience in wet/classical analysis, FTIR, GLC, and HPLC. Experience in microbiology is an additional advantage.
  • Hands-on experience in packing materials analysis and development.
  • General Laboratory management including material receipts approval across the process chain (Raw material, Packing material, Semi-finished goods, Finish goods, Toilet Soap Bars).
  • Knowledge & understanding of bar soap and soap noodles-making processes.
  • Thorough understanding of the product manufacturing process and some product application knowledge.
  • Proven ability to build sustain & influence relationships at all levels of an organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of R&D, Quality Systems, process concepts, and industry benchmark (9001, 22000, 22716, GNP-B2, HACCP, 14001, 18001)
  • Customer and regulatory requirements for the given products.
  • Data analysis for process validation & monitoring adherence to self-certified procedures.
  • Statistical process control methods.
  • Problem solving techniques such as Pareto analysis, and why analysis.
  • People development and coaching, leadership team building experience.
  • Understanding and experience on SAP system, and similar process software used in Laboratory.
  • Should be able to monitor and update master databases in SAP system-related Quality.
  • Knowledge of Soap Bar lines for troubleshooting process control and online packing qualities
