Regional SHE Coach
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:


  • Program Implementation & Compliance: Support the implementation of the CAPA Health & Safety program, ensuring strict compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations across all Pacific countries with CAPA staff.

  • Training & Development: Identify and address Health & Safety training needs for CAPA Pacific staff, arranging and delivering relevant training programs. Ensure all Pacific staff remain current on all mandated and legislated training requirements.

  • Auditing & Monitoring: Conduct internal H&S audits to ensure statutory, legal, and global standard compliance. Monitor the implementation of recommendations arising from audits and changes to operational procedures.

  • Incident Management: Maintain a comprehensive registry of incidents and near-misses to identify ongoing improvement opportunities and report on findings. Act as the primary point-of-contact for all health and safety inquiries or incident reports within the Pacific Region.

  • Guidance & Support: Provide expert guidance to team members on environmental and health matters, escalating inquiries to appropriate managers when necessary.

  • Reporting & Records: Support the audit of compliance records and all other environmental, health, and safety data. Prepare periodic Safety Metrics reports.

  • Waste Management: Track and report on the safe disposal of any hazardous waste via designated staff.

  • Safety Culture & Collaboration: Hold regular meetings with operational staff in the Pacific to foster psychological safety and knowledge-sharing habits. Share good practices with peer Health & Safety representatives to promote a positive and proactive Health & Safety culture.

  • Equipment & Supplies: Monitor and ensure the adequacy of first aid kits and Automated External Defibrillator supplies.



Education, Experience, and Knowledge:


  • NEBOSH National or International General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, NEBOSH Health & Safety Management for Construction, or an International Certificate.

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education.

  • Relevant experience in Health and Safety, preferably within an international organization.

  • Proven experience providing training to multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and requirements specific to CAPA countries.

  • Auditing experience, with a proven record of completing 2 or more safety, quality, and/or environmental audits.

  • Experience in accident investigation.



Skills and Abilities:


  • Demonstrated ability to develop and promote a strong and positive Health & Safety culture.

  • Proficient in English (written and verbal) and fluent in at least one language used in the various CAPA countries across the area (e.g., Burmese, Thai, Cantonese, Malay, Indonesian, Japanese).

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including excellent training development and delivery abilities.

  • Clear and concise report writing skills, particularly for accident investigations.

  • Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent attention to detail, capable of delivering on a variety of disparate tasks while maintaining high standards of accuracy.

  • Ability to model a coaching approach to promote skill development and solve complex problems based on prior experience, subject expertise, and current legislation/best practices.

  • Effective at establishing, building, and developing positive working arrangements and relationships with colleagues and external Health & Safety organizations.

  • Possess excellent time management skills, including the ability to organize work to meet deadlines and utilize resources wisely and economically.

  • Demonstrates a willingness to accept increased responsibility, easily learns new software programs, and takes initiative to find and implement solutions to problems, knowing when to escalate.

  • A good team player who recognizes the contributions made by others.

  • Ability to work effectively with staff from diverse cultures and who speak languages other than English.
