Technical Development Manager (Renewable Energy)

Monroe Consulting Group Philippines, an executive recruitment firm, is currently hiring for a leading renewable energy solutions provider dedicated to expanding access to clean, affordable energy in rapidly growing markets. Our esteemed client is in search of a Technical Development Manager with 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in Renewable Energy, particularly in managing wind projects. The position is based in BGC, Taguig, and offers a hybrid work setup.

Job Summary:

The Technical Development Manager holds primary responsibility for supporting projects during the opportunity and development phases by overseeing engineering, supply chain, and project control resources and workflows. The objective is to deliver a consistent EPC Technical and Commercial offering to the Business Development team.

Key job responsibilities include:

* Collate pertinent information and insights from the Business Development Department to aid in preparing deliverables for Business Decision Gates 1 and 2.
* Coordinate and schedule internal resources and workflows for Engineering, Supply Chain, and Project Control to ensure efficient documentation delivery.
* Oversee technical workstreams throughout the development phases of projects, encompassing feasibility studies, front-end engineering studies, site evaluations, and preliminary design specifications for PV or wind projects, as well as high-voltage design and interconnection considerations.
* Spearhead the development of technical concepts and solutions for projects, identifying optimal approaches from technical, commercial, and execution perspectives, including civil, mechanical, and electrical aspects of PV or wind plants.
* Ensure that the EPC budget aligns with specific technical solutions, uncertainties, and project risks while maintaining competitiveness.
* Lead both external and internal technical development processes, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to guide projects toward construction commencement.
* Manage EPC deliverables for Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and tenders organized by off-takers.
* Collaborate closely with a core regional team comprising project development and project finance professionals to collectively achieve the company's ambitious growth objectives.
* Support the organization by collaboratively developing and updating the Operating System to streamline processes, ensure consistent quality of deliverables, and enhance delivery efficiency.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES IN REGION OR COUNTRY

In collaboration with Supply Chain and Engineering:

* Conduct thorough market investigations and reviews to assess construction costs.
* Establish and cultivate a network of partners, consultants, suppliers, and contractors.
* Gain insight into the local technical and economic landscape of the renewable energy sector within the region.

CRITICAL INTERFACES
* Engage in business development activities.
* Coordinate with the teams responsible for Engineering, Supply Chain, and Project Control throughout project lifecycles.
* Interact with partners, consultants, and contractors regarding technical and economic considerations.
* Present business cases and EPC budgets to the EVP Solutions during decision gate processes.
* Provide weekly reports to the Solution Regional Business Partner, highlighting anticipated challenges and proposing solutions or mitigation strategies.

Key job requirements:

* Technical university-level degree in Engineering.
* Professional experience ranging from 5 to 10 years, preferably within renewable energy companies or EPC firms.
* Fluency in both written and spoken English and the local language.
* Proficiency in tender preparation and Construction Budget preparation.
* Experience in the business development phase of projects, with a solid grasp of the Philippine power market, especially within the renewable energy sector.
* Strong technical knowledge of renewable energy, power generation, interconnection, and transmission.
* Experience in managing and planning technical workstreams for large infrastructure projects in the renewables industry.
* Familiarity with Technical Due Diligence processes.
* Commercial mindset with a track record of optimizing business outcomes from technical design and execution perspectives.
* Understanding of main technical contract structures within the renewables industry.
* Experience in multidisciplinary environments and managing EPC projects.
* Participation in construction and Operating and Maintenance phases is advantageous.
* Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including presentation software, Projects, and Excel.
