Purchasing Manager (Construction)

Monroe Consulting Group Philippines, an executive recruitment firm, is representing a Japanese multinational company renowned for its expertise in agriculture, water, and environmental sectors. They are seeking a Purchasing Manager with 5 years of relevant experience in procurement, purchasing, inventory/material control, and warehouse management. The ideal candidate should come from the construction industry and have knowledge of water treatment processes. The position is based in Makati City, with an onsite arrangement from Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM.

Job Summary:
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement of goods and services essential for the company's operations, particularly in water treatment and environmental solutions. This role includes developing and implementing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, ensuring cost-effectiveness, and maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.

Key Job Responsibilities:
Develop, lead, and execute purchasing strategies.
Prepare, implement, and ensure strict compliance with policies and procedures for efficient operations.
Establish and manage a vendor accreditation process and perform vendor performance evaluations.
Streamline the procurement process to ensure timely delivery of requirements with the best quality and price.
Develop and maintain processes for monitoring all purchasing activities.
Participate in research and development of products.
Coordinate with the General Affairs Department to ensure proper scheduling of logistics.
Monitor inventory of materials in the staff house.
Resolve vendor or subcontractor grievances and claims against suppliers.
Collaborate with other departments to approve specifications for awarding bids.
Report directly to the Director.
Perform other functions as assigned from time to time.

Key Job responsibilities:

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field.
At least 5 years of relevant experience in procurement, purchasing, inventory/material control, and warehouse management.
Knowledge and familiarity with logistics processes, especially import and export procedures.
Experience and familiarity with the construction industry.
Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes is an advantage.
Strong negotiation skills.
Excellent time management skills.
Exceptional communication skills with a strong leadership background.
High level of interpersonal skills, with the ability to multitask and perform well under pressure.
