Monroe China hosts career event for potential new executive recruitment consultants

Executive search agency Monroe Consulting Group China held its first ever career-transition event aimed at young professionals interested in a fun, exciting and financially rewarding career in executive recruitment.

After more than a dozen recent university graduates or young professionals from diverse backgrounds and industries introduced themselves, Monroe China’s highly respected team of executive recruitment consultants explained that fun, money and doing something that matters was at the heart of working for the headhunting agency.

“Fun, money and doing something that matters is very important,” Monroe Consulting China Managing Director Kelly Liu said after the career event at the company’s headquarters in the heart of Shanghai.

“In addition, our participants were excited by our award-winning training and mentoring system, the young and dynamic office environment and the prospect of placing senior executives in key jobs with leading Chinese and multinational businesses.”

Executive recruitment consultant Steve Grant-Wilson, who heads up two of Monroe China’s five divisions, namely Health and Consumer Goods, said Ms Liu personally led the workshop, which included a self-assessment exercise.

“This provided participants with guidelines on how they could define a practical career plan by identifying their strengths and weaknesses, what they really want to do, and what they realistically can do,” he said.

“Then it was time for the group case study – participants were paired up and asked to analyse a business case before presenting their action plan and recommendations for addressing the problem posed.”

He said the Monroe headhunters were impressed by “the teamwork, logical analysis and diversity of thought on display, with pairs persuasively debating their positions.”

“We finished off the session with an interpretation of the Everything Disc assessment results as participants had been asked to complete an online assessment prior to attending the event,” he said.

He said Monroe China was always exploring ideas about how to improve our events so we asked for participants to elicit ideas as to how to achieve this.

“One participant replied ‘I am very happy I attended the event, which helped me sort out some of my thoughts and create a clearer picture about where I want to go in the future. I look forward to working with or being part of a professional executive search company like MCG’.”
