Monroe: Giving something Back

  • Publish Date: Posted almost 12 years ago

As part of our corporate social reasonability program, Monroe Consulting Group Indonesia recently agreed to support Yayasan Sekolah Rakyat Bogor. Relying on independent donors, the organization has already built and run 18 junior high schools and kindergartens in poor and remote areas, staffed by 125 volunteer teachers. The organization is hoping to add and addition 5 schools in 2012. To date this organization has given the opportunity for 1,300 disadvantaged children to go to school for FREE.

Our support will be financial as well as volunteering time to help support the teachers and children attending the schools. We will also donate all of our unused desks when we move offices in May.

Although the financial support is important to ensure the growth of this organization we felt it was more important to donate some of our time as well. Our consultants will visit various schools and share with the students a lesson based around education opening up more career opportunities. We hope to help inspire and motivate children who are less fortunate to try and remain in school and aspire to a brighter future.

In addition to supporting Yayasan Sekolah Rakyat Bogor, Monroe Indonesia will also be supporting a small charity called LOVEBOOKS. Lovebooks is a small community of book lovers dedicated to firing children’s imaginations through reading. The organization gathers and distributes secondhand books to children in need. Lovebooks works with both free schools and orphanages to build book corners and libraries if needed. Should you have second hand books you would like to donate please let us know and we will be happy to arrange collection.

Both organizations were selected for their focus on providing aspiration and opportunities to children for a brighter future.
