Monroe Consulting Group Wins at Expat Entrepreneur Awards Thailand 2014

Monroe Consulting Group Thailand Managing Director John Tolmie was honoured at the inaugural Expat Entrepreneur Awards Thailand 2014 in Bangkok on Thursday (October 14, 2014). Mr Tolmie, who heads the successful Thailand office, scooped the top prize in the Consulting Category.

The Expat Entrepreneur Awards 2014, which are open to expatriate businessmen and women from throughout the Southeast Asian nation, showcase the important impact that expatriate-owned and managed businesses have on Thailand’s economy. Winners were recognised for their “creativity, ingenuity, excellence and proven success,” according to organisers The BigChilli magazine and Bangkok Now (BNOW).

Mr Tolmie said the award was particularly satisfying because it demonstrated how far Monroe Thailand had come in a relatively short space of time. “As little as 5 years ago, Monroe was a small agency with very little recognition from anyone; never mind the ex-pat community,” Mr Tolmie said. “This award is vindication for all the hard work and dedication of the Monroe Thailand team over the years, to not only get us to a point where we are seen as one of the major players in executive recruitment, but also to be honoured for our efforts.”

He said that the judges had singled out Monroe, a leading provider of senior human resource capital that specialises in servicing clients' needs in the banking and finance, technology, industrial and consumer goods sectors throughout Southeast Asia, because it ticked all the right boxes, namely innovation, job creation, corporate social responsibility and social media and branding.

“We have come from nowhere to become one of the – if not THE – biggest and most successful executive search companies in Thailand,” Mr Tomie said. “Our success comes from the investment in our people, often taking graduates or people with limited work experience and moulding them into highly skilled, professional recruiters.”

Mr Tolmie said the award was yet another accolade for the wider Monroe Consulting Group, which earlier this month was named ‘Best Small Recruitment Business’ at the prestigious international Global Recruiter Industry Awards 2014 for the Asia-Pacific region at a ceremony in Singapore. The company was also named ‘Best Small Recruitment Business’ and ‘Best Overseas Operation’ in 2013.

“Monroe is going from strength-to-strength, not only in Thailand, but also in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, as well as in Chile and Mexico,” Mr Tolmie said. “This again demonstrates that Monroe has a winning formula in emerging markets throughout the world and is a real pat on the back for our determined efforts on behalf of our client companies and jobseekers.”
