Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group's Industrial Division is partnered with an MNC that produces oleochemicals. Our esteemed client focuses on production of oleochemicals for various application such as industrial, food ingredients, personal care, biofuel, and agriculture. They are seeking for an Industrial Relations Manager with at least 10 years of experience in IR. The position will be based in Ipoh.

Job summary
The successful applicant will be responsible for the overall industrial relations of the company. The candidate will be reporting to the Head of HR (Plantation).

Key job responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the overall Industrial Relations and Industrial Harmony of the Company.
  • Implement and review HR, labour and employee policy, practice and procedure in company and ensure in compliance with the Malaysian laws and Groups values
  • Handle complaints, grievance, dispute, strike, and any other disciplinary matters.
  • Investigate and resolve industrial relations issues and report to the management.
  • Provide guidance and advice to Head of departments/ Managers in managing disciplinary and performance issues and facilitate counselling in conjunction with other stakeholders.
  • Maintain relationships with unions, lead Collective Bargaining and facilitate communication between unions, management, and company staff.
  • Provide regular updates and timely reporting to management on all matters relating to Industrial and Employee Relations.
  • Issue circular memo on industrial, labour laws and employee relations matters.
  • To develop programmes/training/ initiatives to achieve industrial harmony in the Company.
  • Any other ad-hoc task related to industrial relation from time to time.

Key job requirements include:

  • Candidates must possess at least Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource/ International Relations/ Management/ Law or equivalent from recognized universities.
  • Minimum 10 years of working experience in Industrial Relations field.
  • Experience in oil palm industry is an added advantage.
  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Well-versed in Employment Acts/ Labour Law of Malaysia, Collective Bargaining, NUCW, MAPA/AMESU, etc.
  • Strong understanding of Employee Relations Principles and experienced in handling employee grievance/ misconduct/ whistleblowing/ dispute issues.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in both Bahasa Malaysia and English.
  • Able to work and communicate effectively at all levels and with internal and external parties.
  • Willing to travel to operating centres in Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah.
  • Possess own transport (car).
