Plant Manager - Chemical Manufacturing (based in West Java)

Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Indonesia is recruiting on behalf of a leading multinational company with a core focus on chemical manufacturing. As expansion continues, our client is seeking a professional with at least 20 years of experience in operating in a multinational company for the job of Plant Manager. The job is based in West Java, Indonesia.

Key job responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient manufacturing operations at the plant, to ensure the availability and delivery of quality products to meet customer demand and delivery schedules
  • Secure safe and effective operations at the plant focusing on Process Safety, Management of Change and Competence Management
  • Development of the project to find and contract a new blend plant in the Jakarta area, focusing on the capital engineering aspects
  • Always demonstrate clear leadership in SHE, through personal standards and action, Gemba walks, site safety meetings etc
  • Demonstrate and lead with a professional level of Process Safety knowledge, with all Process Safety Events being recorded corporately and robustly invested
  • Show competence in risk assessment and effective root cause analysis, and identifying safety critical steps, and develop within the plant team
  • Implement and certify that safety-critical equipment is identified, and preventive maintenance programs are in place to ensure the integrity and reliability of equipment
  • Maintains effective programs for waste minimization, recycling, pollution control, energy conservation and public safety
  • Manage a Competence Management System which certifies and records that all individuals have been trained and tested to fulfill any tasks they may carry out
  • Understand budget, P&Ls and other financial governance information appropriate to plant operations
  • Ensure that the plant is managed in line with its budgeted costs and budgeted conversion cost
  • Develop a capital plan beyond the current year, and manage capital expenditure to the forecast inputted into corporate systems
  • Show site ownership for inventory levels, prevention of excess and obsolete stock, and actions to address as required
  • Maintains plant focus on meeting customer expectations with quality approved products being delivered in full and on time
  • Guarantee a system of accurately testing materials against corporate specifications


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors and Masters in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or similar is required. Additional qualifications in safety and management are preferred
  • Minimum of 20 years of chemical production/manufacturing experience, including 10 years in a leadership role
  • Hands-on in operations related experience, manufacturing management in a multi-product, and chemical production facility
  • Multi-national company experiences in the chemical industry are preferred
  • Good English reading and writing ability
  • Very strong leadership skills, mentoring, and coaching
  • Strong problem-solving ability and effective employee management experience
  • Good Financial literacy
  • Strong exposure in six sigma and continuous improvement
  • Expert both in production and maintenance area
  • Strong exposure in data analytic and review
  • Fluent spoken and written English
