Workplace Engineer

Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Malaysia's Technology Division is partnering with a technology organisation specialising in data and analytics. Our client is seeking for a Workplace IT Engineer who thrives on building reliable, scalable IT operations that power a global workforce.

This role is the backbone of employee productivity at the company. You'll own the end-to-end workplace IT experience, from onboarding new hires to managing devices, access, and service desk requests across multiple countries and time zones.

This is a hands-on, execution-focused role, making systems work smoothly and ensuring employees can focus on their work without IT friction.

Job Description
Own Employee Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Prepare and provision laptops for new hires, including remote activation and shipment coordination.
  • Set up and manage system access across Microsoft 365, Azure AD, VPNs, and core SaaS tools.
  • Ensure clean, timely offboarding - access removal, device recovery, and asset reconciliation.


Modern Workplace & Endpoint Management

  • Administer Microsoft 365, Azure AD (Entra ID), and MDM/Intune for identity, device compliance, and access control.
  • Manage endpoint lifecycle: provisioning, patching, updates, and troubleshooting across Windows and macOS.
  • Support MFA, conditional access, and baseline security policies at an operational level.


SaaS & Access Management

  • Administer and troubleshoot access to SaaS applications (e.g. Microsoft 365, Teams, Jira, Confluence, Salesforce, and similar tools).
  • Configure and support single sign-on (SSO) and access integrations where applicable.
  • Manage user accounts, roles, and permissions across identity platforms (e.g. Azure AD).
  • Support MFA enrolment, password resets, and account recovery processes.
  • Maintain clean access hygiene and support periodic access reviews.


Service Desk & User Support

  • Resolve service desk tickets across L1/L2 scope with a strong first-time-fix mindset.
  • Troubleshoot user issues related to devices, applications, VPN access, Wi-Fi connectivity, and collaboration tools.
  • Maintain clear documentation and a growing knowledge base to improve support efficiency.


Inventory & Asset Control

  • Maintain accurate IT asset records for laptops, peripherals, and accessories.
  • Track device assignment, refresh cycles, and stock levels.
  • Support audits and internal reviews with clean, reliable data.


Global Support & Collaboration

  • Provide remote IT support for employees across Singapore, Japan, the UK, and other offices as part of the global IT team.
  • Work closely with HR, Finance, and regional stakeholders to ensure smooth IT operations.
  • Coordinate with external vendors when required, without losing ownership of outcomes.


Job Requirement

  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in workplace IT, service desk, or IT operations roles.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure AD (Entra ID), Intune / MDM, and SaaS access management.
  • Experience supporting SSO, MFA, and identity-based access controls.
  • Comfortable provisioning laptops and supporting remote employees.
  • Confident supporting users across different countries and time zones.
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and process conscious.
  • Clear communicator with a calm, user-centric support style.
  • Able to work independently and take ownership in a lean, fast-moving environment.


Advantage

  • Exposure to cloud or infrastructure environments (Azure/AWS, VPNs, networking) would be an added advantage.
