Job summary
The candidate will be responsible for the overall management of mining projects. He / she shall assist in staffing, outlining project plans, setting project goals / deadlines, and evaluating performance. The Mine Manager shall ensure the safety and health of mine workers and is expected to recommend corrective action when problems are detected. Additionally, to providing input to strategic decisions that affect the functional areas of responsibility.

  • this role requires expertise and experience in underground mine design, mining schedule development, team leadership, equipment crushing plant and processing management, environmental compliance, safety protocols, operational and compliance reporting.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Overall Mine Management: Being the Mine Manager, he / she is expected to use his / her management skill to manage the entire mine planning and management with the team at his / her disposal.
  • Mine Exploration: The Mine Manager shall work together with the geologists in determining the direction of the mine exploration program and reporting. The exploration shall take into consideration of the existing life of mine as well as the mine cashflow position.
  • Mine Design, Planning and Scheduling: The Mine Manager shall work closely with the geological and engineering teams, consultant and contractor to design and review the underground mine method and plan taken into consideration of the geological structure and challenges. The Mine Manager shall together with the underground mining team develop, implement and constantly review mining schedules.
  • Execution and Monitoring of Mining Plan: The Mine Manager shall ensure the mining plan is properly executed by the relevant units and shall continuously monitor the execution actions in order to maximise the extraction and production efficiency.
  • Risk and Safety Management: Safety is paramount to the Company. The Mine Manager is expected to work together with Safety Officer to ensure the implementation and enforcement of all safety measures. Besides that, the Manage Manager is also expected to identify, manage and mitigate the potential risks in line with our Group Enterprise Risk Management.
  • Overseeing the Efficiency and Effectiveness of Crushing and Concentration Plants: The Mine Manager is also expected to work closely with the supervisors and contractors that operating the crushing and concentration plants to ensure both cost and operational efficiency and shall perform the necessary product allocations.
  • Contractor Management: The Mine Manager is also expected to oversee and manage the contractors of the allocated Mine to ensure they carry out their duties and responsibilities in accordance to their terms of appointment and comply with safety and industrial standards.
  • Implement QAQC measures: The Mine Manager shall work together with other operation team members and QA/AC team to oversee quality assurance and quality control measures to maintain product standards and meet customer requirements.
  • Environmental Monitoring and Compliance: The Mine Manager shall work together with the Environmental Management team to ensure all the activities are in compliance with the environmental laws and regulations.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance: The Mine Manager shall ensure the Workshop team maintain the mining fleet machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Lead and motivate teams: Provide leadership to mining teams to maximize production targets while ensuring high efficiency and morale. The Mine Manager is also expected to spearhead initiatives to enhance productivity, safety, and environmental sustainability across mining operations.
  • Maintain statistical records and conduct trend analysis: Keep accurate records of mining operations and analyse trends to identify areas for operational improvements and increased efficiencies.
  • Compliance with Regulations: Ensure strict adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations, obtain necessary permits, and uphold corporate governance standards.
  • Undertake ad hoc tasks: Handle any additional tasks or projects assigned by superiors to support overall company objectives

Job Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mineral Resources / Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within the underground mining industry, civil engineering, or construction is essential.
  • Strong technical knowledge of underground mining operations, equipment, and industry best practices is crucial for overseeing mining activities effectively and ensuring optimal resource extraction.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for mining operations in Malaysia such as MDA, SME including environmental and safety standards.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to speak in Mandarin will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.
